What she needs is a good spanking.

Is this some kind of mean joke? They’re talking a bomb cyclone blizzard in the Midwest this week with up to 2 feet of snow!

We got skunked today. We did a lot of idling seeing what we have down below. I was pretty disappointed with what I found or lack there of. Oh well I’ll hopefully get it figured out this year.

That's alright - they've upped our predicted snowfall amount to 5-8"

Perhaps turn your calendar pages back down to January.

I checked out Oneida lake today and it looks like another week or so before the ice is gone. Hopefully I'm not being overly optimistic.

I just saw they're calling for snowy mix on Thursday.  This puts a serious crimp on fishing and skateboarding.

Current detrimental fore cast not with standing, we have had serious meltage (well it's a word now) past few days.

A huge percentage of the snow & ice in & around the homestead has been dissipating at an alarming but most desirable rate.  With only six days between now and the predicted / hopeful local open water date, time to re-check the gear and make any & all final fine tune adjustments.

we all know that's just an excuse to go cast in my yard while I wait . . . . . .

No snow in the immediate forecast for the northern Capital District of NY. Just rain and or WIND, 14 -20mph winds Friday into Saturday. Sunday might have a window for fishing but I am going to stick to Trout fishing. I know they are biting.

@A-Jay dang foul weather still keeping you down! Have you pulled all your hair out yet?

I’ve seen the wintery mix predictions and I’m not too happy about it. It’s 60 here so anything that falls I’d suspect will not stick to the ground/roads.

The other night when  we first heard of this storm I reminded my wife that last year we had an April snow storm. Sure enough she went through her phone and April 17 last year we got a few inches on the white stuff, then a couple weeks later Summer showed up and I was sweating my arse off chasing turkeys, no real spring. Hopefully that doesn’t repeat this year, because I’m way behind the 8 ball with my brown bass plans. ?

Looks like we'll miss the worst of it, and it'll rain more than it will snow anyway.

For you or me or both? I haven’t watched the weather since Sunday morning.

Me, but yours shouldn't be that much worse. You're supposed to get maybe an inch more snow thursday morning than me, and mine will transition to rain faster. But then it is supposed to rain more late thur/early fri for both of us.

I predict a two week spring then straight to summer like last year!

Bite your tongue !

I should be hammering brown bass in a week - maybe less.

Even though ice-out was later this year and Jan-Feb were worse than last year, I seem to recall last year's March-through-April as being much more miserable than it's been so far.

Last year, I didn't actually get on the water anywhere until April 26, although I was able to cast into open water from shore a few places in early march.

We got hammered with 2 ft of snow mid-April last year.

My first day brown bass went in the net on the 5th of May;

Which was two days after open water on Lake Menderchuck.

Unless there is another major snow event - I should beat that this year by at least weeks.

Maybe more - if we get lucky.

Yesterday my back yard was clear of snow - this is what it's like now...with another 6"-10" predicted

On the ice status? Smaller bodies of the Minnetonka chain like Black Lake and Tanager Lake are about 50% clear. The larger bays such as Spring Park, Lafayette, Smiths and Browns (the ones I passed today on an errand) are still about 90% ice-covered.

I can’t imagine. I moved from the south to Indiana. Although it isn’t nearly as cold as it is there, the move did shave two months off fishing season. But I have heard that the fishing in MN is excellent. The winter may be worth it.

From a blurb last year about the Classic Bass Champions Tour.

"This will be the first time the Champions Tour has visited “Tonka”. It’s no secret that the lake is one of the best bass fisheries in the Midwest. The lake is loaded with bass of all sizes and the structure that these fish live on is seemingly endless."

This is the lake I live by - I'm on an Island...no matter which way I go, I'll hit part of Minnetonka.
