Down here we have Johnson, H&H, Betts, Cajun Lures, Berkley, & you can buy all the components necessary to build your own all at our local Walmart.

 

Many rivers & bayous are off colored & these little spinnerbaits are killer!

I still have one of those old style 3/8th ounce lures . The body was bigger and the jig head was different .I  used them a lot and caught some real nice fish with them . They had a crawdad color that i used the most . If they would bring them back I'd buy a dozen today .

Exactly - not the same as now. The only change I made to the old ones was to put a matching Sampo bearing on in place of the crane swivel. Made for a great late winter/early spring spinner.

I have an older 3/8 grape colored one also, I've never used. Virgil Wards spinner

Heres a photo of the old style . The jig-head is more of a banana shape and the body   is larger .

This has worked for me in stained water. Mine is black/blue. You can reel it extremely slow. If you like willow leaf, I'd use a light spinnerbait so you have to reel it slowly to keep it down.

They were - Chuck Wood designed the Beetle and Beetle spin (and the Puddle Jumper) and is considered the grandfather of Midwest finesse.
