Allaroundfishing
I was wondering if anyone on this forum have watched or currently watch a fellow on youtube named Marling Baits. He makes all sorts of lures not all of them conventional or even something you would fish with but he makes all of them fishable even if not practical but he truly is an amazing craftsman. If you don't watch him or even don't watch youtube at all i would check him out he might teach you a thing or two or even give you inspiration for your own designs. ?
Hook2Jaw
Definitely. The dude is amazingly talented.
Baitmaker
He does really nice work, but I never could understand why he makes his lips so thick. They are twice the thickness of most other baits. I do enjoy watching his videos and seeing his creations. Seems like a real nice guy too.
FCPhil
I enjoy watching his videos and have gotten some inspiration for my own luremaking.

A topwater walking bait or a popper are pretty easy places to start.

Logan Bronnenberg
I love watching him, I can spend hours watching him make baits. He is so detail oriented, nearly all of his lures come out looking amazing.
Derek1
He has great vids. Just started making my first one. Painting without a air brush is tough. Don’t want to buy one until I know if I’m gonna get into this or not.
Baitmaker
Marling's latest creation in progress is a wooden spinning reel that he is building from scratch. Entire wood frame, arbor, handle, and hand carved gears. Talk about meticulous! The guy has some serious talent. His videos are great. He sure is a master craftsman.
Sharkey5150
I’ve only just discovered Marling Baits on the YouTube a couple weeks ago and I’m hooked! There is just something about this guy, like others have commented, he makes it look so easy that he inspires me too to try my hand at making a lure or two and of course definitely makes me want to grab my gear and wet a line. I too can sit and watch his videos for hours. Mr. Marling has hit on a video style that works perfectly for him. The dude has personality and his passion for lure making and fishing in general is contagious. I totally agree with the other comments that he is an artist. He is not afraid to try anything that strikes his imagination. His work and attention to detail is absolutely beautiful and deserves to be put on display. At this moment, I have no idea how much $ his lures go for but, I feel I’d have to get two of whatever lure I could afford. One to fish with and one to put on display. Btw, from all the video’s I’ve seen so far, Mr. Marling gets it done right from the banks of area ponds, creeks and rivers. I’ve yet to see him fishing from a decked out, high dollar Nitro Bass boat, not that he doesn’t deserve a couple, five or nine of them. I’ve got to admit, I get that nostalgic, excited feeling in my belly from days gone by while in high school, when me and a couple buddy’s would actually play REAL “fish hooky” from school and hit the area ponds and creeks walking the banks. It’s O-fish-al, Mr. Marling is an amazing artist, fisherman and from what I can tell on video, a hell of a nice guy.✌️
DanielG
I've watched all his vids. He is the reason I started bait making a few months ago. He's one of those handful of youtube channels I wait to post to watch. He's not only informative but he's also my entertainment as he has a fun style to watch. Super User Paul Roberts Posted February 17, 2020 Super User Share Posted February 17, 2020 Yes! Really fun channel. Baitmaking adds a whole nother dimension to fishing, and Marling adds a whole nother dimension to baitmaking.

I love his channel his baits are awesome but they are so expensive. Its because he knows he can sell them for that. Good for him. Last summer when i found his vids are when i decided to jump into hardbaits. I will say he has become more entertainment than substance. But he is very creative and takes a very fresh approach to lures. Zimmtex, Solar and engineered angler are other good hardbait content creators. if you really want to get into the physics of lure making and why baits do what. Being analytical, i absolutely being able to understand the why of lure action and design.
