    I don't really care about ratio.  IPT is what I'd pay attention to.  28-30 IPT for all around use.

    Wouldn't 12:2 be the same as 6:1? But my favorite is 7:1

    7:1 is the most versatile to me. My reels range from 6.3 to 7.5 depending on company and model.

    If I had to pick one, it would be a 7.1 about 30IPT for the whole I can always slow down with a fast reel but I can only really speed up so much with a fast reel, argument.

    I like the 7:1 which is usually about 30 ipt.

    I am like @Lonnie P. on this. I use whatever I like for the particular bait I'm using. If I had to get by with just one it would be a 6:1 or about 26" IPT. I don't like having to force myself to slow down my retrieve and this is plenty fast enough for anything I will be using.
