Howdy Folks,

I am finally giving in to my wife's wishes and going to start to wear sun protection for the paws.

......so, whatcha all wearing?

I like Buff fishing gloves.Good quality.

I've tried several and settled on the KastKing Sol Armis gloves. They've been very durable and have extra protection in a few spots on the palm and fingers that have saved my hands from countless fins and gill plates. Price is good and they have some nice color options. They also fit my hands nicely, which I've had issue with, apparently I have short fingers. 

 

Cabela's Guidewear gloves were, surprisingly, the worst gloves I've tried. They were expensive and barely lasted a few months before the seams started to come unsewn.

Thanks, I just pulled the trigger on these. Been using NRS gloves, but they're more suited for colder weather. I think these will fit the bill and the price was right.

The Field & Stream sun gloves at Dicks Sports, are a good budget option, they are super thin, light and dry quickly. But color options are limited , not bad though for $14.99 but Fish Monkey and Huk would be a more premium option with far more color options !

I started using Sims fingerless. They have open palms so you don't even notice them. As I get older I can see the need of keeping sun off of me as much as possible. Also, if the weather isn't too hot I've found that cheap arthritis gloves like Copper Fit knockoffs are great for grip and giving my thumb arthritis a break.

I like the arthritis idea....but it does strike me as interesting that people wear gloves for sun protection but wear short sleeve shirts!?

Aftco Solago Sun Gloves for me.  Just used them for the first time Saturday.  Very comfortable. 

I have a pair of Glacier Gloves that were given to me. I would but them 10 times over. They keep my hands protected and cool. The also have some leather in strategic positions so they are also durable.

I shred two pair of Simms quickly - switched to Fish Monkey... they lasted all last year and should get me through this year as well... 

 

Not only good for sun protection but lippin’ fish too - Heres what my hands look like when I forget the gloves in my car...

I use the simms fingerless/open palm gloves.  I also fold down the pointer and thumb on both hands so the gloves don't catch on the line.

My glacier gloves have worked fine for a number of years, washed dozens of times.  Everything Simms makes has never disappointed but they are a little more pricey.  You can find Glacier Gloves on sale at times.  Don't forget the face, best buff I've found is the Simms with the vent holes.

I have a pair of the Simms and the Columbia one's. Both have held up well for me over the past 2-3 seasons, although they do stink of fish. I guess thats a good thing, right?

When I decided to start wearing gloves for sun protection I bought some Glacier Glove Abaco Bay Fingerless Sun Gloves. The material is very thin and I thought they would be a little cooler in the summer. Unfortunately after one summer the stitching started coming out and and they fell apart.

 

I'm now on my second season using Fish Monkey gloves and so far so good.

The Kastking gloves are great. They are frequently on sale as well.

I gotta admit that's a good point. FWIW the skin on the back of my hands seems thinner than my arms. Maybe it's more susceptible to deeper damage.

I wear sun shirts and gloves along with a hat and neck/head protection. 

 

I saw a picture of a guy today in shorts, no shirt,  but with sun gloves and a buff on. Couldn't really understand the point.

The body is weak...the hands and face are strong.

His skin looked like an old baseball glove, I guess it was probably a little late for skin protection for him

Ive been out in short sleeves before and really started catching them so put on a pair of sun gloves to protect my hands from getting torn up from lipping so many fish.

 

I looked like an idiot but my thumb didn’t get raw.

Might not be for your partners. :-) They wash nicely, use gentle cycle, either dry in the machine or hang to dry.  

I really need to invest in some proper fishing gloves, but for now I use bike gloves. They seem to do the trick and have a padded thumb so the bass don't chew up my thumb if they thrash around when I lip them.

Outdoor Research Activeice Casting Gloves are the best gloves I have used, I have 4 pair of them now.

Simms would be my second choice.

 

 

after 2 pairs of Glacier Gloves flew out of my boat towing it home, I prefer the cheaper priced KastKings. They fit really nice.
