Now I'm going to have to go correct my mistakes . Thanks a lot .? Roller, crane, and barrel swivels spin on each end so there any difference on which end you use. Ball bearing swivels are different as they only spin on one end but they spin so free that most anglers never take notice. When your blade is on the free end of the swivel it will spin even better and when using a Worth or Sampo swivel it will be ridiculous at how slow you can reel the bait the keep the blade spinning.

Super User Munkin Posted July 24, 2019 Super User Share Posted July 24, 2019 You should try a double Indiana blade on some of your baits. No one makes that combination that I am aware of and it just kills fish around here. I use a #3 silver and a #5 gold Indiana blade on a white head with a pre-made sexy shad skirt and it has been my top producer on the river so far this year. True , but spinnerbaits dont last forever . If I get fifty fish on one I did good but the wire is going to break sometime . So I now have blanks and after 20 to 30 fish switch the blades and hardware to a new bait . I can buy a new bait that I like and keep reusing the blades for hundreds of fish . Recycle the lead and hooks buy new skirts and it becomes cheap .

Super User king fisher Posted September 7, 2020 Super User Share Posted September 7, 2020 I get some of my spinner bait parts at lure parts too. They have a chart in their catalog that gives recommended sizes for blades, beads, swivels, and clevises. The one thing they have that some other places don't is Lumaflex skirt material. I got the idea from a video Glen made on fishing spinner baits and now use it almost exclusively for skirt material. A few strands of crystal flash added can add some shine to the skirt. I don't know if the fish care, but it looks good. One way to make sure you don't loose blades because of the wire bend is use crimps made for making wire leaders to close you loop. I can't say it is better than just bending the wire, but I prefer the crimp.

I have long suspected that smalljaw has an advanced degree in wire puzzle making. You might review this post from a couple months ago which covers different methods of closing loops on spinnerbaits. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/226411-help-on-a-spinnerbait/

I've got everything picked out from LurePartsOnline that I want, but I wanted to ask you guys if there were any tools, parts, etc. that you would highly recommend that a beginner must have to start out. Thanks. Just did the same thing. Spent 135.00$ on Lurepartsonline. I got all my stuff last week and started building. Pretty easy, pretty fun. I ordered without any advise. Was not sure I was buying all the right sizes but turned out great. The clevises were the one item I was unsure of but was the correct size. Good swivels are expensive, I went with a 50 pack from amazon for about 10 dollars. They seem identical to the expensive ones. I have found 1 or 2 so far that did not spin very well. Just tossed them and grabbed another one. If you do but the swivels from Amazon make sure the are not welded rings. These swivels need split rings. This bluegill color is exactly what I have been looking for in a skirt. I'm really proud of this one. Goby and bluegill skirts side by side. It took me 3-4 baits to finally perfect how to make this loop perfectly, but I think I've got it figured out now.
