Any interest in trapping?

Featured Replies

I used to trap in Upstate NY but sold all my equipment about 6 years ago because I got injured. Ive been thinking about getting back into it for fox and yote but I'm undecided

My papaw used to tell it to me all the time, I can’t exactly recall how it goes but I’ll try…….   3 moles are single file in a tunnel. The lead mole says he smells something, maybe honey. Th

I got squirrel number two today. The hole in the previous picture is where you can see a yellow grocery bag in today’s photo. I put the bag in the hole to monitor when the squirrels go in and out. Once they stop  knocking the bag out of the hole for a few days I cover it up with wire mesh or flashing or both

One of these skunks dug under our chicken pen and killed a hen. I set a live trap and a couple leg holds and the leg holds scored back to back.

Sorry to leave y’all hanging. Here’s a squirrel job from today

here’s a flying squirrel job where they were getting under the metal roof into the walls of a log cabin (don’t get a job trapping if you’re scared of heights)

and here’s a mole I caught Friday, set the trap Thursday . That’s quick for a mole haha

I had a mole in the basement a few weeks ago. He eventually got stuck in the dogs' water bowl. I was gonna just put some cardboard over it and let him free, but my wife let the dogs down stairs. My GSD "rescued" the little guy by picking up out of the bowl and dropping him on the floor. When he tried to run away, the dog ate him, lol.

Would have been my wife's plan, too.  I think she dislikes moles more than snakes....and she really hates snakes

His skin is sitting on a piece of plywood, with a few skinny nails in it right now.1073808328_image0000006.thumb.jpg.ec881c0a577008d0cc93351941c9a091.jpg

I don’t think I will be skinning the next fews coons, that took a long time.

That’s a nice one! I think it takes a whole lot of practice, I don’t skin anything because it takes me forever also. I know a guy though! He can have a raccoon done in around 8-10 minutes if he’s in a hurry

8-10 minutes!!!  I’d like my 3 hours back please.

Set 5 more to check in the morning.

Had the skin sitting on the back porch and walked out to a dagum possum nibbling on the fur.

Set traps around the fur! Haha.

the guy that skins them fast is over 60 and he’s been trapping every year since he was 11 , nothing beats experience

Wow!  My grandpa’s been trapping since he was my age, so if I’ve got any questions I just go to him.

Two possums and a coon played today.  Minus three nest raiders.

I wish, I just went and shot that thing with my airsoft gun a few times.

The possum’s we killed, and the possum that was eatin the coon skin are about 5-8 miles apart.  We’ve been trapping at our hunting property.

Oh ok I gotcha. I doubt he paid much attention to the air soft hahaha.

I used to rent a log cabin that was comparable to living in a hollow tree. One time me and my wife (girlfriend at the time) were in the living area eating pizza. I heard something in the kitchen, looked in there, and a possum was sitting on the cookie sheet I used to reheat the pieces of pizza, licking the crumbs. I walked in there and grabbed it like a cat and threw it outside. Wash my hands, sit back down to pizza. Guess who walked right back into the crawl space and climbed a pvc through the floor and was back in the kitchen 5 minutes later? Same possum. So the second time I threw it like Nolan ryan into an embankment and he walked away upset and didn’t come back for a few days

??

Took four or five shots from the airsoft gun before he finally played dead, hunkered under the back porch.

Boy did I get a laugh this morning. Desparate times call for desperate measures. A squirrel chewed a hole in a dryer exhaust and I have unsuccessfully been trying to catch it on the roof. So yesterday I decided I was going to put a trap on a second story window sill right next to the exhaust even though there was only one place to drive a screw and tie the trap off. It caught the squirrel and somehow held it up there! I could see it dangling and shaking violently when I parked my truck Hahahaha

There's a serious crack in that wall.  I'd be afraid to lean a ladder against it.  :D
