Possoms are kind of cute, so long they are behind bars.

Nothing wrong with eating warm weather squirrels, if there was then our grandparents and farther back would been wiped out.

I just got back from a few days camping and hunting and noticed the Chinese stink bugs everywhere, they were trying to fill up the tents and stopped to gas up and there was like 6 or 7 landed on the windshield and hood in just a minute. Do you ever get called out to deal with stuff like these or do most folks call the Orkin man?

We don’t deal with any bugs but those things have emerged in full force very recently.

I think the squirrels just have bot fly larvae aka “warbles” or “warvals” haha. Rabbits can actually be dangerous during warm weather because of tularemia. It’s not going to wipe out a generation but it has killed some folks

Around here they refer to the larvae as wolves. Old timers would throw away a squirrel with one. I recall reading that Indians up north after killing a caribou would squeeze out bot fly larvae first from their kill as an appetizer, yum yum. I usually only cut away the piece affected. Mostly it’s around the neck or maybe ruining a ham. I’d say you’ll see one on average of 1 in 10 squirrels killed here where I am.

Warbles to warvles to warvs to wolves must been the transition of speak here in south eastern Ky

I’ve chased them in circles around the same 3 trees for about an hour yesterday and 30 minutes today.  They are sneaky but not quite smart enough to leave. I can only shoot from one angle, it’s a crowded neighborhood haha

I was not impressed with what my .177 did to a crow. I’d imagine it would be head shots only. I’d like to have a .22 caliber air rifle to try

Have you tried the old small conibears attached to a tree with peanut butter marshmallow trick? You can attach your coni to a board and strap to trees to prevent tree harm if necessary

That’s not a totally legal set for me………

I have to put conibear in the hole or underwater

my .177 is lethal when it hits the target! I was shooting straight up into trees. It’s a cheap thing too, daisy powerline 901 I think . I’ve dropped many squirrels with body shots, the shock wave gets them I think
