I’ve ate several of them and the thing about the groundhog is that he is tough. Even one half grown. I always cooked them for a long time. The old recipe here in these parts was to cook and then bake. I never thought of mr whistle pig being greasy, like raccoons are. And neither are good table fare, more the fun and novelty of the idea of it.

I’ve only heard stories, you’ve actually done it!!!

Actually if you inject raccoon with a brown sugar, kosher salt, water solution for 12 to 24 hours and then slow smoke and add good sauce you’d be shocked. It is amazing

I’ll just take your word for it………..

those things smell horrible. After riding around in a vehicle with them for about 15 years I don’t think there’s enough money in the world to convince me to eat one

My uncle has tried all of those critters. He even tried crow and  chipmunk once just to say he “ate them.” Needless to say after he tries them once, I never really hear of him trying them again. Lol

Somehow, this cat managed to get under the bathtub of my brother in laws just remodeled house. The space it was in was impossible to get to so I had to trap it. Unfortunately for the cat it refused to drink water and died shortly after being removed. Fortunately for my brother in law I got it before it died under his tub which would have been really bad.

Only a sick animal refuses to drink water. That's probably why it found such an odd and secure place to hide... To die.

I’ve had to remove many many live and dead possum from the void under a bathtub. It’s a good hidey hole to live or die. Norway rats like it too…….

How does a ground hog know to duck back into the hole just before I squeeze the trigger?

Cuz otherwise there wouldn’t be any more groundhog. Same reason the bass don’t bite when they hear a trolling motor that sounds like R2d2 and 3 different transducers pinging.  Self preservation

They're pretty smart.   I tried to take one out with a hand gun once just because it's was all I had on me.  He just laughed at me.   We both knew I couldn't make the shot. ?

They developed a sixth sense of avoidance because humans just want to wipe them out. As with coyotes, they are now some of the most successful mammals. When you try to eliminate something, they respond accordingly

so I go to a new job today and the guys crawlspace smells terrible. There was a whole bunch of junk laying around but I had a sneaking suspicion there was a dead skunk in there. They kept talking about how many times they had seen skunks walking around so I just set some live traps outside. Then the more the conversation went along he started telling me he had even been shooting at a few of them. So I asked if he hit any of them and he said he thought he might have hit one. So then I Go back into the crawlspace and may have found his target. Needless to say after that extraction I need a shower

I've still got the live traps to check today, they've been seeing several and so have all the neighbors

I got rabbits under the deck at my new place. I was thinking of feeding them some yummy pellets.

I might have to take a trip up to you, I've got a killer pellet feeding gun. ?

My mother would not approve...

A skunk!

earlier this morning I had to inspect a school portable that they claimed smelled horribly of skunk. There was absolutely zero odor present, I told them to hop in with me and ride along if they want to really experience the mustelidae family aroma
