I had bats figured to need cool temps. That has to be hot as hades on them up there?

Hotter the better for bats. They literally disappear from any house or building once it gets cold in November or December. Them and groundhogs are the only truly hibernating mammals in TN

squirrels won’t go into a hot attic but we will start getting some calls about them in late September when all the hickory starts dropping

My papaw used to tell it to me all the time, I can’t exactly recall how it goes but I’ll try…….   3 moles are single file in a tunnel. The lead mole says he smells something, maybe honey. Th

You’d had to been there to appreciate it but one late Oct or early Nov midday I made my way to a saddle on a ridge to bowhunt, long walk in. Suns out making the midday warm, I have on a polyester ghillie suit. I take my forearm to move the limbs of a small beech tree outta my way and all heck breaks loose.

I immediately hear this loud screeching sound and stop moving thru the tree limbs and start looking around me. As I scan around my feet for whatever this loud screeching is from SOMETHING touch’s my hand. I look and there’s a bat that must been hanging in the beech limbs possibly sunning?

it’s making the loud screeches, it’s teeth are chewing and it’s spread over like 10/12” of my forearm ?

I instantly think rabies and go crazy I sling the bat every which way but his claws are hung in my ghillie. He goes even crazier so I start spinning like a bull during a ride. I sling my bow and my back pack off and get the ghillie top off and run ?

I finally go chk my ghillie with a stick but the lil bat is gone. I then see him flying around before dark and have to wonder who was the most shook up ?

Haha! Yikes. The health department would’ve recommended you get your post exposure rabies shots. Lucky for you they only cost like $20,000

418806-EB-6-C55-42-D7-914-D-57-E36975164Another bat job. At least the louvered vents are quicker than the slotted vents, we can just use one whole piece of wire here

This is after we screwed 1/4 wire mesh onto the outside, the aim is to make it blend in.

Is that a pb on the rat? ? A whistle pig to round out the afternoon would be nice…

Here’s my pb but I didn’t get to weigh him before I threw him back

I don’t think it was a PB but it was sure a big nasty rat.

Haha! We just leave them a way out with no way back in. The less touching of bats the better

I just so happen to be at the shop and our office lady doesn’t work on Fridays. The phone rang and let’s just say I don’t have the super polite telephone  manners like she does. It was one of our very good longtime customers that said he was trying to catch a raccoon in his own trap and accidentally caught a skunk. I told him he needs to check his traps before Friday afternoon next time, he got a kick out of that. Lucky for him I zipped right over there and got it

You’re a good man. I think I’d rather deal with a bear than a skunk.

That is not our trap so I’m not sure but I think there was just a handle with a rope tied to it for some reason. It was pretty Jank

Hhahahahahhahhhahahah. So far that hasn’t happened to me but I have seen one or two spray. There was a lab involved each time…….

if they start stomping their front feet I back up and try again 15 minutes later
