I use a lock instead of a pin so the trailer doesn’t get stolen.

Me too also I prefer a more secure method to keep my rig attached to the truck than a pin.

Receiver locked to the truck, latch on coupling locked down...I may have a 'cheap' trailer, but it's all I got.

5/16" bolt and nut work good if you don't want to lock it.

I use one of these. Easy on, easy off. At any box or hardware store.

Padlock that fits the reciever latch.

I use this. Very easy to use, but pretty secure. Also doesn't cost much. I bought it at Cabelas.

It is  theft proof. I lost the key on my last one, after connecting the trailer to my truck.

Took me 1/2 hour to cut it off.

You can get them at West Marine, Home Depot, Lowes, UHaul, and online.  I recommend the locking pins.

The 'set' I got is a Master - receiver locking pin and coupler locking pin...keyed alike. One key on my key-ring, the other in a safe place at home. $22 from Amazon.

Ya, we're getting our money's worth from Prime as well.

Just curious, for those of you that use a lock, have you ever had your trailer stolen or know someone who has?

I've had a receiver hitch w/ball taken once so now I never leave it in there unattended.  Plus its prone to rusting in the elements.

I use a Master lock on the trailer coupling.

More of a super secure way to keep it in place

 rather than an anti-theft device.

As a motivated, prepared and committed human could easily defeat it.

However, thundering down the highway at ramming speed, with just the standard 'cotter pin' there,

makes me a little nervous.

I feel much better if I lock that mother up.

I’ve had a few receivers stolen, and caught someone trying to hook up to my boat once.

I bought a spare pin at Bass Pro Service Center when the little ball came out of mine.  I back my trailer into parking spots with a tire firmly pressing against one of the concrete parking blocks.  I don’t think anyone will be able to get it.
