Chatting with a guy about a G Loomis NR, for $125.  He said they bought a bunch of blanks in bulk, built the rods and is selling them for $125 because they didn’t get the sticker with the blanks.

 

Seem suspicious..any thoughts on such a deal?

Also the Shimano Solstace is included in the deal.

G Loomis stopped selling blanks years ago before the NRX rods even came out...so I wouldn't believe it

 

Is he a reputable builder in the area? Thats always my number one when it comes to deals and buying stuff like this. 

 

Guy who’s new to the area with a bunch of gray sticks in the back of his ‘95 f-150?

 

Builder with a shop and hundreds of satisfied customers, including pros and tourney cats?

 

The answer to that question can tell you much of what you need to know right off the bat

I would pass.  G. Loomis stopped selling blanks around 2008-09.  

If it had a stella on it, maybe it'd be 2% believable.

Oh yes the "NR" not-real series. These are extremely popular.

 

Ask him about his source for cork. I have some that I could sell him that looks better than what hes using ... i just have to take it off the old lightning rods.

sounds like the guy who talks to you in the parking lot and says he was delivering speakers to a store and they had extra and they said he could keep them and he is selling them at a discount.....
