Stores Being Bought Out.

Featured Replies

I just found out that Sportsmans Warehouse has bought out a bunch of the Field And Stream stores. I don't know what changes will take place. We have Sportsmans Warehouse here and they have always been on the high priced side. I have never seen a Field And Stream store so I can't comment on them. Thought those of you that use Field And Stream would like to know

Wow - Field and Stream buys Dick's Sporting Goods - then turns around and sells stores to Sportsman's Warehouse.

Far as prices - look at DSG...that's probably what you'll pay at F&S.

I looked at SW's prices online - we have one local too - but wasn't impressed.

I looked it up and Sportsman’s Warehouse bought 8 out of the 35 Field and Streams from Dicks Sporting Goods back in October. There’s a Field and Stream in the City close to where my parents live, and it looks like that one won’t be affected by the buyout. It’s been over a year since I’ve been in there but they had a pretty good selection of everything and prices are the same as Dicks. I’m surprised that Dicks didn’t sell all of the stores since they are anti 2nd amendment.

This is starting to look like a dance where you can't keep track of who has who as a partner.  Right now, I have one local DSG, and another within 75 miles that has a twinned F&S. As far as value goes, I wouldn't go into any one of them.     jj

So...who's going to acquire BPS?  Maybe Tackle Warehouse

I thought Tackle Warehouse had better sense than that.  ?     jj

You got that wrong. I am waiting to see if Pradco buys out BPS or BPS buys out Pradco. They both think they should own everything and not have any competition.

That is semi free market capitalism at work.

I don’t see anyone buying BPS in John L’s lifetime.  Maybe after he’s gone.  He’s a big duck in our little Missouri puddle and loves it.

His net worth is estimated at (variously) 4.0 to 6.8 billion dollars. I'd say that makes him a big duck in ANY puddle. Don't get me wrong; I don't like BPS. Still, you have to give the man his due.      jj

TW doesn't have JM money. Might be the other way around.

I've got a field and stream nearby that i frequent for fishing gear. They actually have some good sales and keep a good inventory.

Curious if this will change. Anybody know of a list of stores sold?
