Sound advice from a young mind.

My eight year old grandson was over today.  We finished his on line studies and he asked to go out to the my bass boat.  He climbed in and did his pretend driving as usual.  Then he wanted to go through and resort hard bait boxes.  Ian looked over in a shipping box and saw several hard baits I received over the past few weeks and started his inspection calling out the brand names.  Then he looked sternly at me and said, "  Papa, you can't leave these in the boxes their whole lives........we better take them out so you can fish them!"  Sage advice. I can't wait until spring so Ian can soak some of the baits he opened with me.

Sometimes the younger ones have more common sense than a lot of older fishermen. You won't catch any fish with a new lure still in the original package so it is best to buy lures that you will actually fish with.

Smart kid!

Tom

That's a great story!

Reminds me of the first time I built an Alabama Rig.  After I added up the price of all the components, I was afraid to throw the darn thing.

My new rule is to never buy a bait I'm not willing to lose.  Otherwise, I'm not going to fish it to it's full potential.

We are born with critical thinking skills that are quickly "taught" out of most of us. Children aren't afraid of the truth or to ask questions.

Good story!

Ian has already picked out his absolute favorite color pattern, 6th Sense Black Magic.  He loves that pattern.  I’ll have to get him a frog for sure.

Awesome.  Now I have to check my "New" tote of lures to make sure that I took everything out of the boxes.

For some reason this post has me thinking how I could catch a fish with the lure still in the box...

I have a Crush 50 in that pattern that has produced quite a few fish. Good cloudy day pattern, and yeah my kiddos ask to use it when we fish.

Wish my kids would do something like that instead of playing video games.  For some reason when I say no more video games they turn off play station and go to the phone thinking some how that is different!
