But, yes, the days are noticeably longer. In fact, we just hit peak daily rate change -what I came to call the first day of spring at this latitude.

I just think back to the old days and what we call 'start of summer/winter' was called 'mid-summer/mid-winter' because of sun placement against the background stars.

Based on that, beginning of February was considered the start of spring, beginning of May the start of summer in olden times.

So really, we're a week into the spring season for those of us with a grounding in ancient practices.

It feels like the dead of winter in Tennessee.

1/2" of ice tonight and 11* this weekend.

Yeah, by the time the equinoxes and solstices come around, all the action's long begun. The groundhogs, and other critters, seem to have a better handle on this stuff nowadays.

Makes it a little easier for snow removal.

The weathermen get giddy when "everyone's going to die!"  So far the storm has

been a bust. Trees and viaducts have some icing, but the ground is too warm for

accumulation. The rain ends by noon with clearing. No doubt, it's still going to get

bitter cold, but the 'crisis' is overblown.

Every time! Unless of course there really is bad weather, in which case they never see it coming

They really missed latest forecast but the ones they got right are still lingering.

I refuse to use 4WD to go fishing but will for beer. ?20210211_094430.thumb.jpg.0bde701cafb7a59a46d6773b0cb657bc.jpg
