I don't particularly like when guys are so far ahead that they know they are already on to the next round so they "quit" fishing. But much like in any other sport, when you have a substantial lead you can let off the gas. There is a lot of boring football in the 4th quarter when one team is up 45-7. It never has been real exciting to watch the guys at the top on these elimination days, but as was alluded to already, it is that cut line (in this case the TORO cut line) that makes it exciting. 

 

I do hope the bite picks up and we see a slug fest on Friday.

I have thought about it some more, I have another thing that I don't care for (not that it matters, LOL). I don't like how 10 will fish tomorrow and 10 will fish Thursday and then they will take the top 5 from each day and they will fish the final on Friday. Why not just have the 20 anglers fish both days and have the top 10 fish on Friday? I think the guys that fish Thursday could have a possible advantage as to locating fish. Just my opinion though. 

How do tournament officials decide who's in groups A & B ?

I've never heard how this is determined. 

 

Is it predicated on an anglers position on the leader board ?

Is it done alphabetically ?

Do they go by height ?

Perhaps it's who has the biggest head ?

Or do they pull names from a hat ?

My buddy and I always have side bets on BASS and MLF. This tourney I had Thrift and Defoe. He had Wheeler and MDJ. I am looking good so far. ?

 

The one guy that keeps flying under the radar it seems is Mark Davis. I look for him, David Dudley, Andy Morgan, Andy Montgomery and Zack Birge to advance today.

Well with KVD catching a 5 already, it may be tough to not have him. 

 

I would like to see DC get in to the Championship round. He is well overdue for a BPT win.

I would not count Wheeler out...He crushed it here in the last round of Championship day last year...If he finds that one off shore school, its over....

Pretty slow going so far today (Wednesday). It'll be interesting to see who figures out how to get bit and on what!

I was sort of bumming that it was a workout day and I'd not be seeing the whole first period.

I was able to take a lunch and watch this for a bit. Pretty slow going, makes me feel better about my fishing though. ?

 

6poundbass had a snow day Monday and I put him on this. After watching for an hour he texted me and said it was boring. That’s what I was hoping for. He watches YouTube fishing shows, and TV fishing shows with me that are all edited and the comment was made last year about us not catching them like he sees on YouTube and TV. He didn’t fully grasp the editing thing, so Monday he saw first hand the magic of editing and real life.

 

After watching them struggle Monday, hopefully he doesn’t think his dad is good enough to become a pro. ?

It has been picking up every afternoon. I think Wheeler right now is on a school off shore. If he can get the bait right, he will be on to the championship round. 

 

I think Birge, and Davis are good as long as they get another bite or so. The issue to me is, what if one of the guys on the bottom catch a couple big ones late...it will get interesting for sure.

I was excited when KVD pulled that early 5#er...but since then he's gotten nothing score-able. Kind of a bummer.

3rd period should be awesome. At least that is what I am hoping for. 

 

KVD mentioned he cannot seem to slow down to flip right now. While Davis was only a few hundred yards flipping and catching em. It is crazy to see sometimes, how they "know" what they need to do, but they just do not want to do it, or it is not their wheelhouse so they don't make the switch.

I believe he mentioned that he had tried throwing plastics but kept catching shorts.

 

As much as these guys want to beat the banks and docks it seems the fish are still mostly offshore or on the very outside edge of cover.  

I haven't been able to watch but here and there. Is Fred still throwing a frog? Does he realize time is running out? LOL
