22RangerZ520R Posted May 2, 2021 Posted May 2, 2021 My annual St. Clair trip is in the books, man what a trip! My best trip there in 15 years. In the 10 days I caught fifty (yes 50) smallies that were 5lb or bigger! Five of those were 6lb or bigger, including my new smallie PB of 6lb 8oz in the pic! She was 21.5"L × 17.5"G. I was able to catch at least one 5lb+ smallie each of the 10 days. I also broke my PB bag of smallies twice with a 28lb 8oz bag on day 2 and a 29lb bag on day 3! 6 out of the 10 days I had over 25lbs for my best 5 smallies! All were weighed on an IGFA certified BogaGrip 15lb scale. Day by day breakdown and more pics on my IG. 13 Quote

Super User Dwight Hottle Posted May 2, 2021 Super User Posted May 2, 2021 That's what a good fishery can be. Congrats on the new PB. 1 Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted May 2, 2021 Super User Posted May 2, 2021 Congrats! Sounds like a great trip. This is turning out to be the best year in a long time up there for some reason. Have had several friends up there already this year, and every single one of them set new PBs this year, with a couple fish topping the 7 lb. mark. Almost makes me want to go - lol. 1 Quote
Moray Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 I sure do miss my annual spring trip LSC! I had some great days on that lake. I moved from Indiana to SoCal a few years ago and sure wish I could get back there. 1 Quote
TheBasslayer Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Well next time I go to Detroit I know where I'm gonna try to fish! Those are massive! 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted May 5, 2021 Super User Posted May 5, 2021 Good to hear. We leave from Virginia next week for our 17th straight year. We stay on Harsens Island. I’ve been chasing the illusive 7lber to get a replica made. Possibly I’ll get her this year. 1 Quote

I've heard of three caught this year already that were 7lb+, I know they're in there! Good luck! 1 Quote
TheBasslayer Posted May 5, 2021 Posted May 5, 2021 Well my PB is under a pound lol, but I've heard that the river that I live on, the Kalamazoo River, has given up some 5 pounders, so you never know! Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted June 7, 2021 Super User Posted June 7, 2021 That's why I feel so lucky to live on LSC, it never stops producing quality smallmouth and largemouth. Most people come here to fish for the smallies, but there are a lot of huge largemouth and if you're so inclined, the musky fishing is the best in the country. The only negative to St. Clair is it can kick-up in the blink of an eye and you'll wish you were anywhere but there. 1 Quote
