Fire extinguisher

Got a warning for an empty fire extinguisher last night, already bought a new one and put it in the boat. So here’s my “empty” one. Sure felt full when I went to throw it away.............

66-BE601-C-52-AB-4-AEA-9-B4-E-9-A3775-D1It’s very full and works, I guess I’ll keep it around the house. If you are ever receiving a ticket for an empty one, maybe you can keep it near your backyard fire pit before you throw it away

I think the "empty" reading is in regards to the pressure.  It still might be full of active ingredients but have no pressure to spray them out...

Oh I sprayed it all over my retaining wall haha. I uploaded a video here but then thought that’s probably not good to encourage people to have one that reads empty. I put the new fresh one on board but I was about to throw the other away but thought why not try it . I figure keep as an extra instead of throwing away one that still sprays

Something I’ve always wondered about.   If a fire ever breaks out on my boat it’s probably going to be in the back where all the batteries and electricity are and where the 25 gallons of gasoline is.  Should I try to put it out or should I abandon ship and get a far away as possible before the gas ignites.

Most of the ones I’ve heard of (and had in my boat) were at the trolling motor plug

Kiddee had a very large recall on fire extinguishers.  I can’t remember what it was for.  You might have gotten it replaced for free.

My new one was only $17 so I don’t know if it’s worth the hassle

Okay you forced me to go and check the one in my boat. I think it is okay. Unlike most of them mine does not have a gauge on it. It has a little push button in the top of it. You push it in and if it pops back out it is okay.

This is the first time I've had it out in at least five years if not longer. The only time it usually get checked is when the game warden are doing a boat inspection. They have also told me to tap on it with a rubber mallet to loosen up the chemicals in it.

Let's see 3rd degree burns/possible death versus a swim/new boat. My fire extinguisher is for helping other folks.
