What worked today?

Featured Replies

Was fishing 5-7pm and it was stupid hot. Getting tired and frustrated I put on a green pumpkin red flake football jig with a 6th sense purple and black bug. Got a nice 3lber. I never used to mix colors.

Got me thinking: what worked for you today that was a longshot?

When it’s tough I usually stay with what I know. I’ll change locations of course, and maybe speed up or slow down and change retrieves a little depending on what I’m throwing.

I’m not one tp just throw caution to the wind too often.

Longshots didn’t work today, old reliable did

Yep, same here. Eleven today on Ned to go along with 26 Friday and 15 Thursday. Finesse TRDs and Finesse WormZ.

Topwater..................Specifically a black Jitterbug.  7:00-8:15PM, bluebird skies and hot/muggy, five bass. The only saving grace for me and for fishing was a steady breeze.

I'm not sure dynamite would have worked Saturday. One of the toughest days I've had on the water in a long time.

ol reliable indeed!

Caught 4 of these beast and a crazy bream at my pond yesterday evening in about 20 minutes on a 1/8 Red SK spinnerbait. Burning it just under the surface on my Curado 70 K MGL/Zodias 6'10" Medium/10 lb Red Label FC.

Lately when the temps start rising the bass have been wanting to short strike the bait.  I get around that by fishing with small 3", and 4" plastics.  I want to make sure that the whole bait is in that fish's mouth.

Dont go home because the fish are not biting . Yesterday was tough . Bright sunny skies after a day of heavy rain . After 4 hours I had boated 4 little bass . But slowly I started building a good stringer . I dont know if the bite picked up or I just got dialed in . Ended up with 20 , a limit over 15 inches and 2 bass just shy of 4 lbs . Let me tell you about my largest . There was very little surface activity all day .  no  bait fish or anything . But one time there were some schooling bass . I usually dont chase schoolies but fishing was tough .  Reaching them as fast as possible  I moved into  casting range then the action stopped . I made several cast with a half ounce Red Eye shad to no avail.  I launched another cast , let the Red Eye settle to  the bottom at nine foot, gave a few hops and felt the tap . Set the hook and landed a very fat 3.98 lber .
