I’m going out on a limb and guessing the two of you don’t have any classic or antique cars in your garage

With a boat, mowing equipment and everything else in my garage I'm lucky to have any walking room. I can't afford to spend money on classic cars. I'm needing to buy another truck now and I hate to think what that is going to cost me. You willing to float me a loan?

As noted cork handle through blank spinning rods had anodized aluminum rings to fasten the reel foot onto the handle for decades. Removing the aluminum rings and taping the reel onto the handle popularized by Billy Westmoreland of Dale Hollow* lake TN.

Back in the 80’s Phenix Don Iovino Split Shot rod had a Tennessee handle that my late son fished with until he passed away in 2020. I used reinforced strapping tape covered with Kapton tape to hold on Stradic 1000 reel that is still on the rod over 20 years. Never removed the reel after thousands of bass caught!

Yeah buddy! Those new trucks only cost about as much as a 2 bedroom house

My favorite DS rods have a TN grip, as does my tube rod, but I use the slide rings.  If the handle is made properly, the reel doesn't come loose

I really would like to find a nice 7ft med light with a Tennessee handle. I'm not aware of any rod companies really making them.

I can make you one...

Tom... Billy Westmoreland was from Celina, TN and fished Dale Hollow Lake. The Tennessee handle originally did not have the rings...this is just how they made then.

The only company I know of that still sells them is Slider Fishing which is Charlie Brewer’s old company that is still run by his family in Tennessee. Their rods are lite action and short the way Charlie liked them.

There are plenty of custom builders that will make one for you.  I’ve never owned one of these but I’ve heard good things about them.

Thanks for the link - his slider book is available there for much less than at amazon.  I was a huge fan of slider fishing when I was a teenager and still have a bunch of fenwick 4'9" tennessee handled rods, from the old fenwick fiberglass to HMG, HMX, and golden wing.
