Too long of a dry spell

Featured Replies

So the last smallmouth I caught was almost three years ago, Sept. 12,2018. I love catching smallmouth, but sadly there are no lakes close.
I bit the bullet and drove two hours into Wisconsin only to be denied access to the lake. There was a fire down the street from the launch.
I drove to another lake just to have some place t go fishing.
I ended up catching my PB smallie and I didn’t even know that lake had Smallmouth. The Lord knew I needed to catch one.

I now  know my skill has a lot of luck .

Season is winding down, and I haven’t even had a chance to target smallies yet. Congrats on your PB. You just need a little jelly now to go with it! ??

Well these posts made me thankful that smallmouth are all around me We fished tuesday after a series of huge thunderstorms went thru monday night. It's shaky fishing postfront conditions so close but what the heck, the water was full of tree parts and dead weeds everywhere. Almost hit stuff twice..... whew! Got into SM and they didn't care, its chow time of fall, nothing huge again but they will come. Water temp dropped from 72 down to 64 and I caught a real colorful LM as well.

I'm good on the brown bass locally.

However, our fortunes are completely reversed when it comes to quality green bass.

I choose to go quite a bit south and bring a passport to get my big green bass fix.

(which has included a few new PB's)

Congrats. You’re a better man than me, been a little over a week and I’ve been having nightmares and cold sweats. Probably going to be another week or more too

You're still about a month away from Prime Time.  We will have our turn shortly.

If I lived where you do I would be fishing Lake Geneva and Door County as much as possible.  The next month should be great in both of those places!

Got a mix of 19 Spots and Smallies yesterday on the Tennessee River. They were all small except for one 15" Spot. That's a good one for me. The surface temp was 78.4 so we are still a long way from Prime Time here in Southern Tennessee. One small Smallie (maybe 9") threw up a Zoom Speedcraw on the bottom of my boat. Glad that happened! Got a free lure and a healthy fish!
