They use silicone elastomer coatings, but seem pretty hard - haven't had abrasion problems with a dozen hard-use trips.

Yamatoyo makes a hard-coat X-braid, "Resin Sheller", which Japan Tackle and fishingshopkiwi sell. I'm trying my first spool of that on braid-modified Ambassadeur.

Nice. Keep us posted on how those braids perform long term.

i took a break from bass fishing for a few weeks and switched to crappie, i normally use 4lb mono mr crappie brand, it cast excellent as far as distance, that's what i need to catch them from shore, i tried 10lb suffix 832 and i am not getting the distance as i am with the 4lb mono. most say the braid will cast further than mono. but yet to see that

Just spooled up #10 J Braid on a ML / F spinning rod with a Laguna LT 2500.

Ive tried other #10 braids (PP and 832) on that combo and i prefer the JBraid so far. Most of my reels have PP on them right now but change is good

Over all Sufix 832 is the best braid I've ever used. Tuf line Domin8 is 2nd IMHO. I don't use it anymore because I can't get it in high vis green. Sufix 832 in neon lime doesn't fade badly.ive used plenty of braid brands in 30 years. Tried J braid in neon green and it bled all over my rods and reels and stained the cork.

I really hated braids .... including 832 ..... because I used them on spinning reels. Braid builds up twist differently than monofilaments, and the birds-nest or wind knot on braid is worse and more sudden  than monofilaments.

But I recently got into using braid on a baitcaster for a frog rig. I tried Power Pro, but it was so noisy that I couldn't hear myself think ..... not that I think much at my age.  ?

Changed to 832, and my, oh my! Quiet and great distance! The only negative is a negative with all the braids I've used or seen used, and that's tip wrap. Not really a biggie.

The only other braid I'd like to use, just to see what it's like, it the YGK family of braids that @Team9nine mentioned. Unfortunately, no retailer near me stocks them ...... which is another plus for 832. You can find it just about anywhere.                jj

Too loud for my liking not smooth compared to other 8 strands Ive tried.

Same opinion here.  I can see why some might like it, but its not for me.

I use it from 6# to 60# on all my reels for main line, all tipped with fluoro leaders of appropriate weight.

It is by far the best braid I've used for strength verses size over others

smooth through guide performance rounder than others

abrasion resistance in rocky fast water it's proven better than others

best casting braid I ever used

It just plain outperforms all the others, and is a bargain for the price, but since I always use fluoro leaders, the color or no color does not enter the ability of its uses for me.

50# is the only size braid I use & that's only when frogging or punching.

Color fading is a non issue with me, when I started out fishing braid it was braided cotton which was white, never affected catch ratio.

If fading bothers you simply reverse it!

The only other braid I’ve used besides PP is Smackdown which I liked, but not to the extent to make a change.

Yeah PP is a little nosier but no where near the point where it would be a reason to make a change.

Love it. 15 lb on spinning rods. 30 on BC. 80 on musky reels.

This is pretty close to me too. 20 on spinning, 40 on BC, and 80 on muskie reels.

I used Power Pro for many years and one time they were sold out of it so I tried 832 instead. I am going to stick with the suffix.

This is a trick not many guys mention. When the line gets old or worn, flip it around and put the old part on the reel first. We're only using the first 40 yards or so anyway. and there are 2 ends on every line.
