Improved clinch knot

For bass fishing.

floro, or mono to lure.  Palomar, Uni, and Orvis.  Depending on thickness of line, and difficulty getting loop over lure or leader with Palomar.

Braid to lure - Doubled line improved clinch, or doubled line Uni.  - Can't make up my mind, so use both randomly

Braid to leader,- Alberto

Salt water-- Same as above and add San Diego Jam.. Bimini Twist, Uni, to Uni, FG. Double Surgeons, Blood Knot, Australian Platt, FG, Nail Knot, Perfection loop, and Hollow braid splices.

These are the knots I use not the ones I recommend.  I no longer recommend any knots even on the internet. I have gotten in to many arguments about knots that accomplished nothing.  I only recommend you use a knot you like, and can tie well.

Lefty Loop

This cover pretty much all the knots I use except when using super light tippet for chasing brookies I will use a improved clinch.

I’m still rocking the improved clinch knot mostly.  Learned it as a teen and my muscle memory takes over.

I saw Brent Ehrler tie a "power uni" knot which is tied by doubling your FC line - then tie a standard uni knot (very strong for jigs , big single hook rigs like swimbaits , etc.)

I use a Trilene knot for every line type. For braid to leader I use the uni to uni.

I like the Aaron Martens double uni for leaders. As far as terminal knots I alternate between the uni and the doubled San Diego depending on conditions.

Braid to Leader - FG

Braid - Palomar

Flouro - Improved clinch knot, sometimes palomar.

I only use mono as backing line, then I use a uni to uni to tight it to the braid.

Alberto knot for leader.

Palomar Knot for line to lure most of the time with braid, mono or flouro.

Trilene knot for larger lures.

The Jimmy Houston knot is a double Pitzen knot or a double Pitzen knot is a Jimmy Houston knot.  I do not know where it originated.

I only use two knots when bass fishing, a Palomar for lines larger than 20 mono in diameter and a Jimmy Houston knot for lines 20 and under.  Before braid I used a standard clinch knot.  I lost some great fish using braid with that knot, so I did some research and found the Jimmy Houston knot. Never had one fail with any line ever.

That knot has been called by many names over the years.
“No name” by Shaw Grigsby about 10 yrs ago to the “Doubke Shindo” by Swindle

and a few others.

It does hold regardless of who’s name is on it now.

Sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I just now saw your notification. No , it’s a different knot. I’ve pulled them against each other and the double SD wins every time.

The double pitzen is a really good knot though
