First thing I thought of was " river monsters ".

That thing was huge! Not sure that I would have tried to put that in the boat alone tho.

 

BTW: What's buffalo fish? I never heard of it.

It’s a sucker, bout like a carp but native. 

 here’s a fine specimen of buffalo from the French broad river

Hahaha! Shew! Nasty ole things. We had actually pulled a lamprey off of that fish prior to the picture which was at least one of the reasons why it was bleeding everywhere

They look like and are commonly confused with carp. I just caught one Saturday when I accidentally snagged one in the dorsal fin. 

That thing took you on a Nantucket sleigh ride I bet!
