Just got a Bass pro Johnny sig platinum I plan to use it with heavy cover swim jig ect..what lb line should I use I'm thinking Braid like a power pro or yozuri -rod 7'4" MHF 

#30 Smackdown with a #15 Gold Label leader.

 

30# or 40# Sufix 832 gets my vote. Toughest braid I've ever found and it handles great. No leader required IMO.

30#-40# braid is my answer to almost everything.  It's thick enough so spool dig-in isn't usually an issue.  And thin enough for long casts and good bait action.  As for brand, I don't think it matters very often.  I've used just about all of them at one point or another, and while there are differences, none that I've come across actually put more fish in my boat.  I'm much more picky about Fluorocarbon, and slightly more picky about mono, both of which I rarely use.

I use 40 lb 832

If you're running that through the slop - 40# 832, no leader - that's what I use.

For heavy cover 40lb or 50lb Smackdown or Power Pro.  832 is another good choice.  Also, for swimjigs make sure to tie a good knot > Palomar.

For heavy cover I'd go with 50lb braid, with 17~20lb leader. Better safe than heartbreaks. In this scenario, it's not casting distance you're after anyway.

Do you mean Palomar is a good knot, or a knot better than palomar?

Not answering for him, but the Palomar is just fine.

I would gather that in this context, the greater than symbol is being used as an arrow. There, the palomar is being pointed to and hence, a good knot. BTW, it is an excellent knot. 

Braid always gets a fish-n-fool knot (uni twice through the hook eye) from me. It simply doesn't fail.

 

I use 30 or 40lb 832 and only use a leader when coming through wood. Cuts down on the noise braid makes running over branches.

What I probably should have said was.... a good knot like the Palomar. No symbols.

thanks! I use palomar for everything with braid and have found it to be very strong. I’ve yet to have a knot let go. But if I was just getting lucky and it wasn’t that good I would branch out.
