Although my two picks finished 9th and 10th I'm glad someone who hasn't won one actually won today!

After seeing the highlights that’s my type of lake. Seeing lots of 1/4 and 3/16 plastics flipping. That’s a staple here in south la.

You are 100% correct. That little lake is fixing to be pounded and probably ruined in the short term.

Yeah, I mean they caught some big ones, but it was SUPER tough.... but that could change when the weather warms up. I'm sure this tourney put this little lake on the radar for some people that hadn't thought much of it. Then again, it's not like some Joe like me is going to drive out there from California to fish it...

It might get a lot of pressure in the next couple months and the fishing may get better, but from what I saw, I don't think the average Joe is going to fish for 8 hours to catch 3 or 4 fish and hope for a big one. Just look at what happened on Ivie. So many people went and fished it and 90% of them had little to no success. There were 10 really good anglers on the water and they didn't just kill them. They sure enough caught some good ones, but they weren't catching them left and right. I know it will get hammered for a while, but I think it will wear off. Most people are al about instant gratification and when it doesn't happen, they will leave and not return.

Me too!!!! But "most" people won't. The odds of catching a 12 are not good. 

I don’t think it’s possible to ruin a healthy lake by overfishing it.  That lake looks very healthy.  Nature finds a way to take care of itself. Pressure will make the fish harder to catch which will reduce the pressure.  I’d be more worried about a lake that size eventually getting overpopulated with small bass.

Same with Toledo Bend after being voted the #1 lake two years in a row. Over the next couple of years Toledo Bend lost all its grass & that changed how the lake fished. Everyone quickly blamed the fishing pressure. In reality the bass went from relating to grass to relating to wood.

 

The bass adjusted...the anglers didn't!

I don't know? Before moving down here from east TN (home) people were complaining about the fishing pressure Chick was getting and the catch rates/ no big fish. Regulars  on Guntersville too. Those are both big healthy lakes.

 

On the flip side, Cherokee and Douglas get a ton of fishing pressure and while neither are noted "big fish" lakes, they always seem to produce good catch rates. Well, for everyone but me.

 

My only worry with Busey is that it was completely drained, had improvements made and reopened. It's only been open for two years now I think. Not sure how much pressure it can sustain right now. On the other hand, it's fairly remote and out of the way. I do agree with you about the overpopulation but there are a lot of meat hunters from the local community that fish there. They're mainly after crappie and bluegill but they aren't going to cull a bass.
