Geez, just another dink fest of 5 lbers

  • With just over an hour to go in this final period on the first day, J Wheeler in on top. Not a particularly new deal, I know.  What is a 'new deal' (at least in my world) and has been f

I don't know why anyone would order one just because they saw someone have success with it.

If Wheeler can keep this momentum going, it will not take long before we have the Lebron vs MJ GOAT debate between Wheeler and KVD.

The fact that he is having this kind of run so young is really cool to see.

Maybe this was already discussed, I'm sorry, but in the years past I've been able to rewind footage by at least a few minutes, etc. Now I can't even do that. Anyone else experiencing or notice the same?

Wow! What a heartbreaker for Dylan Hays.

Several good sticks from Group A didn't make the Toro Cut line.

But a bunch of Hammers did !

Group B is up next and seems to be in for some lousy conditions.

And the Knockouts might be worse.

Does it even matter though ?

They might all be fishing for 2nd at this point.

Thanks to #jacobthegiant

I'll be watching

Day two for Group B ~

Alton Jones is leading the way

and Ott DeFoe is riding the Toro Cut line to start this one out.

Lines in is coming up.

Weather is looking like a healthy dose of everything, except sunshine & nice.

Might not inspire much of a bite from the Florida Bass population on Lake Fork.

Every bite will be big, almost always is.

Yeesh. What a grind.

No Doubt ~

Sure seems like it's fixing to get quite a bit worse

before it gets any better.

What are the chances 10 lbs or less win both the Knockout Round

and perhaps even Championship day ?

Two cold nights in a row with cranking winds...There's a chance they'll get chased out of the chilled shallows into stable water just off shore and group up in small schools where someone will find them and run away with it.

Sounds like a dream for Wheeler and his livescope

What's weird, 85 degrees in Austin and 44 degrees in Dallas... Crazy that the front is that sharp!

Isn't there like 200 miles between them ?

That can make a world of difference up this way.

Like 10 feet of snow type difference.

I have to admit these guys actually got more & bigger bass today that I expected.

With just under an hour to go for Group B

the top 15 slots are filled and look pretty safe.

But 5 or so spots on either side of that Toro Cut Line

could see some fireworks.

Couple a scoreable  bass or even another tank or two

could really shake things up.

Good to know on the temperature gradients over 200 miles there.

We can have that at times in CA but maybe a little less so.

Random side question, anyone know / remember which jerkbait Wheeler has done all the damage on? Is he a megabass vision 110 aficionado?

He didn't say. Just talked about solid colors. He has great big Rapala logos on his deck. Odd he didn't name the bait. Didn't look like a 110.

I wonder how far the water temps will drop without grass to hold heat? Anyone they've asked said it's devoid of it. Can't recall anyone picking off weeds at all.

Yeah, maybe he's throwing Rapala. I don't know if it matters 100%, it's probably the area he is in with the FFS he's using, etc

Regarding water temps, water definitely can retain heat itself. I'm sure this storm will drop it a few degrees....

For a jerkbait bite, I don't know if that will matter much with the cold.

It may just affect the attitude of the bass, etc They may have a little more lockjaw.

Decent chance it was the Loco Special...they're heavily owned by Rapala and he has a joint hardbait sponsorship deal with the two companies.

15 MPH N winds with a high of 37* late afternoon tomorrow. Real feel of 25*? Yikes. At least they'll have S winds for the final.
