My New Favorite From St. Croix

Just received this rod last month, so this is an update from actual use.

I have fished this rod extensively on the Tennessee River chasing brown fish. Casting is

sensational. The Moderate Action is perfect for all treble hooks, but I have been most

impressed throwing the  Red Eye Shad. The action is firmer than you might expect which

makes handling an angry smallmouth a fight where I feel in complete control. The rod is

strong and crisp with just enough flex to keep  a jumper buttoned up. I have not lost a

single fish on this rig.

My rod is saddled up with a Shimano Conquest which balances remarkably well. So well

in fact, the combination gives the illusion of weightlessness. My line is Sunline Armilo a

premium monofilament line. This is a rig set up for medium to heavy lures and bigger fish.

If your target is 5 lbs +, this is for you.

In addition to lipless crankbaits, big topwater lures like the Spook, Sammy and 128 Pointer

jerkbait are ideal for this rod. I plan to throw the Spro Rat next week at Bull Shoals. Big baits

work well.  https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Spro_Rat_Wakebait/descpage-SBBZR.html

How do you think it would handle 1/2 to 3/4 medium to deep cranks?

Very well!

I've used the 7' 2" M/M Glass in the new LTB and I was really impressed with how versatile it was. It's touted as being a light cranking rod but it's handled baits over 1/2oz easily.

I’ve got the M/H and I had similar thoughts. I thought it was for cranking only until I used it. I believe it can handle any technique !! I’m going to try some Texas rigs with it soon
