Swimbait head for 6 inch magdraft freestyle

Why pay $15/pair for a premium swimbait designed to fish weedless and then put it on a jighead when there’s great bodies available for waaay cheaper made for this application? (Big hammer, lunker city shaker,  basstrix). Not trying to be a negative nellie, genuinely curious, seems like a waste. That said when I have fished 6” soft swimbait bodies on jigs I’ve used the saltwater bullet style from either owner or kalins, the 3/4 & 1 oz comes with 5/0 hooks.

Does anyone else’s ocd kick in when they see a swimbait with eyes on a jig head with eyes?

YES ~ !

And I immediately lose all respect for any bass foolish enough to take a poke at old 4 eyes.

I have a bunch of freestyles and I seem to struggle to gain confidence in using screw locks. I just can’t seem to get them to run true.

Yeah I actually don’t care for them, I have four and gave up on them myself I had to tweak the balance with insert weights and they still only kick well at a particular speed, too slow and it stalls, too fast and they turn on their side, I’ve heard boiling their tails helps, never got around to trying it.

I have seen this topic brought up on another forum about the Freestyle but I can't seem to find the thread. There was a post in it with a link for a weighted screw hook which allowed you to move the weight on the hook and the hook was not bent as say a Owner Beast hook. The change in weight and the design allowed the bait to run better and it reduced the wiggle at the front of the bait due to the large gap hook dangling from underneath. I think retrieve speed, again, is still key with the Magdraft and the Freestyle. The Magdraft for me has been the best swimbait ever.

Also, you might look at the Magslow. Despite the name, you can fish it faster.

Yep! It bothers me but I don't know if it bothers the fish. ?

I haven't used these on a freestyle, but they work well for 6-7" scottsboro swimmers.  No screw lock or weed guard and have a nice swim even with the flat bottom.
