I put the butt of rods in passenger footwell and run the tips to the back corner of the drivers side.  7’3” rods.  This is in my access cab Tacoma.  Much smaller than a 4-door crew cab truck.

thanks sir!!

sucks that i wanted to get a new truck on my own terms.  i had prepared mentally to keep mine for at least one more year.  they might fix it.  dunno..i am not a body shop.  or an estimator.   i dont mind either way.

Your much better off if they total it out. If they repair it you loose money at the other end in trade in value or resale because of the accident report that follows your vin.

Agreed. I have a buddy who's been a mechanic his whole life and he says a lot of times if it's more than a fender Bender than the car typically never runs the same and always has its weird quirks you can spend a fortune chasing. More times than not people ended up selling and taking a loss than dealing with it.

Sorry to hear @Darth-Baiter even though theres usually a nice rainbow after the storm.

New truck karma may have stepped in for much less than expected.

to update this story.  Driver was not found in any car insurance databases.  the car he was driving..you guessed it.  the policy was elasped by the real owner.

i am on my own.  i have a tiny uninsured motorist policy the insurance lobbiest secured.  i only get a tiny $3500.  i am tempted to put it on "black" at the casino.  hahaha..

whatever.  my wife comes back into the country Monday.  we will discuss my next truck then.

in the meantime, i am not lettting a drunk idiot consume my last free weekend.  i am going fishing tomorrow.  my bent up truck is loaded for FUN!!  it drives and steers fine.  the bed is bent a bit.  again..whatever.

it is FISHING TIME!!!  thanks you all.

I hope that you are able to stay clear minded on this, I think you have a handle on this thing though.

My Taco which I have previously mentioned that I needed a new vehicle at the time but not a new truck. This came about because I hit a deer on the way to work. Around here the deer are thick as fleas. No insurance those scoundrels. Anyway I wish you the best my brother.
