On the Chev it is a 15% adder for that utility. I have little ones I power around town though and when they have friends it makes a truck not as friendly. When I bought my F-150 in 2017 (its a 2014 version), the Expedition was the comparable version in the SUV. He tried to sell me a 2015 Expedition XLT with the same mileage for literally twice the cost. Instead of spending $25 grand, it would have been about $52 grand. No thanks. Also, the other issue too is that I haul around dead animals when I'm hunting in my truck. I can't put a deer or wild turkey in an SUV, nor would I want to. Honestly there's really no practical reason for me to even own a full size truck which is why I'm currently looking to downgrade to a Ford Ranger before winter.
volzfan59
I could put seven foot rods in the cab of my old 4 door Dodge Ram 1500 easily. I'm betting that I can do the same in my new (to me) Tacoma 4 door, although I haven't tried yet.
Super User Darth-Baiter Posted July 13, 2022 Super User Share Posted July 13, 2022 I have the arm muscles developed from decades of office work (<--sarcasm here). I can EASILY hork my Hobie Kayak into the back of my Tacoma. I use the Boomdoxs bed extender. it allows me to lift my kayak with my arms straight out in front of me, elbows bent, load kept in front close to minimize the cantilever load on arms and back - and I step in between the boondox and lowered tailgate, pivoting the kayak onto the bed extender. I feel it is the twisting of my lower back to turn my kayak onto the tailgate without the bed extender that is the risky move. no issues if I keep the load in front of me CLOSE. my friend has a bad sciatica and I sometime lift his Pro-Angler into his truck for him. it is noticeable how much heavier it is. he doesnt use a bed extender, so I am very careful how I twist. get a bed extender. You sound a lot like my use case for a truck. Dead things in the winter, boats in the spring, summer, and fall. Who knows what else throughout the year. When I bought my truck 3 years ago (used 2018 Ram) I considered smaller trucks since we were coming back from the UK and used to smaller cars. The ranger wasn't available then, but I drove a colorado and was in a tacoma. I had driven or been in lots of the full sized trucks. Having gone to the big one, I'll never go back. The usable space is a lot greater and there isn't really a downside. Fuel economy is similar but if you're worried about economy you wouldn't be getting a truck. Driving/parking is the same except for my garage. I have a small door and can just barely fit it in. Then again, a ranger would still be really close. I'd consider very carefully if you want to downsize and why.
Super User J Francho Posted July 13, 2022 Super User Share Posted July 13, 2022 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab. I can fit 8' rods no problem in the passenger front seat with it slightly reclined. There's even room for someone to sit there if they don't mind the reduced footwell space.

The primary reason is that my F-150 won't fit in my third garage stall. Its a recessed garage so its 1.5 feet shorter than my main 2 car stall. My boat and my wife's SUV goes in the main 2 car garage. Neither of those are moving. I probably should have figured this out before I bought this house in May, but there are so many other reasons I bought this house that trump the smaller third garage stall (school district, location, neighborhood, etc). I intend to be in this house until I retire too. I figured down grading to a slightly smaller truck is a lot more economical and practical than extending the garage. The only items I'm towing are my boat and a small trailer with an ATV. The boat/trailer is about 3500 pounds so its not very heavy.
Jeffrey Walker
Is it difficult to top a pro angler 12ft? This is what I was afraid of as I generally impatient and just want to go becuase I have small windows of time.

I have seen a PA12 on top of a car twice. one was a small truck, and the other was a car. never saw the owner. so I know it's been done. it looks kinda crazy to me but admittedly, I tend to overthink things. But I see a guy often at a local ramp who has a Pond Prowler with a small outboard that he transports inside his SUV.....or half inside, I guess. I have a Hullivator. But Compass is near top end weight for it. I love having a full size SUV. My wife wanted me to get a pickup, but I have my yak on top and gear in the Durango almost year round. I'm not ready to give that up. I'll get a trailer before I get a pickup.

I see them all the time now here. they look great. tiny short bed, but I think I can work with it. I would do a contractor rack and put the kayak up top. I am on Tesla Cybertruck waitlist. no clue. very silent truck updates. there is a guy that moves Native Max 10 in the back of his Toyota Prius. super cool. hatch is left ajar. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 13, 2022 Global Moderator Share Posted July 13, 2022 When I go to my kayak tournaments, I put all my rods in my cab, sometimes over 20. The bed has my kayak, camp box, and cooler. In the cab is my rods, several boxes of spare tackle, kayak tackle box, seat, kayak drive, clothes bag, tent, fan, extension cords, batteries for electronic batteries, net, paddles, measuring boards, a tote of extra plastics and baits. Having a truck doesn't mean you lose cab space.

Super User J Francho Posted July 13, 2022 Super User Share Posted July 13, 2022 They've only sold like 1500 of them. I've seen two in person. It a big fan of the front looks, but on paper it's super capable.
Super User webertime Posted July 13, 2022 Super User Share Posted July 13, 2022 I have a Tundra and fit 8ft rods in the front passenger seat to the back or the cab (double not crew cab). They also fit diagonally in the bed (6.5ft bed). Can do the same in a Tacoma.
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted July 13, 2022 Super User Share Posted July 13, 2022 If you see 10 in a span of a 2-3 weeks, that's a lot to me considering how new and pricey they can get.
