Im a mushroom forager and the chanterelle's are out . They are delicous .  My brother cant eat them . They make him terribly sick . Well , it happenned to me . Fried a batch up yesterday and all night my stomach has been rolling . Been making numerous trips to the john with diarrhea . I'm positive I ate chanterelles but no more . I'll just have to wait for the  oyster mushrooms to start growing .

And that my friends is why I stick to Morels.? Even at that I will get some reaction occasionally.  Same with commercially grown buttons if I let the cap open too much.  I still enjoy them tremendously.

Its possible but I'm extremely careful . Weve been picking Chant's from this patch for several years . I threw some out in the yard and went back this morning to double check . I think my brother and I developed an allergy to them .

My uncle was a big eater of things growing wild, all kinds of plants and fungi.  He was sure that he knew all of the varieties that grow around here.  I guess he didn’t.  He wound up in the hospital and nearly died from eating the wrong kind.

Really?  I've ate mushrooms all my life with no ill effects until now .The Chicken of the Woods have made my lips numb before , so I stay away from them .This time , with Chanterelles , I was sick for over 24 hours .

Yeah just one of those foods that doesn't seem to agree with me real well. I guess it works out because I can't ever find morels when I look for them anyways.
