Early last year I bought a Lhtose clip on cap light off Amazon. Used it a few times for early morning rigging and night fishing. It worked for a couple months, took a couple recharges, and then gave up the ghost. Piece of junk!

Looking to get another light and was wondering if any off you have used the one pictured or have any other recommendations? Would like a clip on rather than a banded light.

I've had a few clip on over the years and they either don't put out enough light, are too delicate, or have tiny controls( I want a big button so I can quickly turn it on while netting a fish). I also will not do rechargeable with a healight. I sometimes fish all night and take spare batteries. Goodluck.

I have a Bushnel clip on from Wal Mart . Had it for several years .  It has a red light setting that comes in real handy for night fishing .  

I use a Maglite attached to a tiny binder clip with a zip tie. Only uses one AAA battery, which doesn't last long, but I use dollar store batteries and I only use the light for very short periods. Cheap, light-weight, simple.

this here works for me, its a headband type with high beam, low beam and red. Three AAA bateries.

I like my Petzl lights that I also use for deer/duck hunting.... they run on 3 AAA's and have the red lens which helps with night vision. Mine are probably 10+ years old so not a ton of candle power like the newer ones..... I think at the time they were 40-50 bucks but well worth it to me.

Your night vision isn't gonna be off for more than a couple minutes unless you shine the white light directly into your eyes.

 

Couple minutes might be an issue if I'm flying an F22 Raptor but I ain't I'm chunking a lure.

 

Try finding a certain color lure with a red light...that ain't happening!

i just wear a headlamp.  a Petzl.  i dont aways wear a billed cap.  a headlamp works.  i sometimes wear it drooped around my neck to provde a glow, that i can work in.  

I'm a little bit of a head lamp nerd. 

I've had a lot of hobbies over the years that require operating in the dark. Some quite technical. I've been through the gauntlet of affordable, and high end lamps In search of "the one". 

 

For general night hobby use, these are my current two favorite lamps:

They are versatile, and produce everything from a low lumen white or red flood light for admin tasks, up to a powerful beam that you can navigate a duck boat with (they are also both water proof).

 

They are both "dual fuel", and can run on an 18650 rechargeable cell, or two CR123 batteries. That's important, because they both have on board charging, so when you get home from a fishing trip just plug in a USB and charge it back up... But if you have a long night on the water and you drain your rechargeable cell, you can pop in a couple of 123 batteries and be back in business. 

 

I know you asked about clip on lights, but a good headlamp is so much more versatile. With decent care, either of those lights will last for many years, without ever replacing a battery.
