That's sad for them, and me too. Solid people, and they've been a great resource. Is there anyplace out there like them for Daiwa parts?

That's terrible! They have been very helpful to me as well when getting parts for some of my Daiwa reels.

Hope it's because they just decided it was time and not because they just couldn't make it! Seemed like a good group of people when I talked to them.

We had a gun shop in our area that we really liked and went there often. Went in there one day and their shelves were near bare. Asked what was going on and was told they just decided 45 years was enough and they were just shutting down. Miss that place!

There's a store called Southwestern Parts and Service in Dallas that is a warranty center for Daiwa, Abu Garcia and Shimano. They  stock a ton of Daiwa parts but you can't order from their website and will have to call. I've gotten handles, spools, knobs and various internal parts from them in the past but they are local to me so I just go in.

I hate to see The Tackle Trap go but Gary posted on Tackle Tour that he had something big coming soon, so hopefully he's going to start his own thing.

I hope Gary starts his own thing too.  He has been extremely helpful over the years and they were one of my favorite places to order from.

I wonder if the exchange rate was part of their demise.  A good portion of their business was jdm products.

I wondered the same thing, but I can imagine there are bigger problems for them with this economy.

@KP Duty seems like that would increase their profit margin, unless there are specific agreements with USA importers about holding prices up to meet their USM prices.  In that case, we'll all bypass them to go to Japan.

I noticed searching residual ZPI parts, Tackle Trap always came up on google.  They lost ZPI as a supplier when ZPI made the choice to leave aftermarket parts in favor of their own Alcance reels.  There also seems to be some agreement inside Doyo (Abu?) not to import this reel to the US, because it's worldwide except for USM.
