I don't use reel covers or rod socks, but I try to be as careful as possible when I'm fishing with them.

    @redmeansdistortion Busting brush is always an exercise in leading rods and protecting reels.  The stealth factor of fishing close and sight fishing with a fly rod also hones good habits.

My bass rigs are used, not abused. It’s been over twenty five years, until my recent BFS binge, since I’ve bought a new reel so what I do have has been taken care of. Although rod and reel covers have came into use the last couple years.

 I have fished exclusively for bass the last ten years so my crappie, stripper and catfish rigs are collecting dust.

 

I now have three new BFS combos so pretty much set for the next twenty five. ?

I try to be mindful of my rods and reels when fishing, trying to not ding them up. I wouldn't go so far as to call it babying. Trying to keep the rash from getting worse.

If it gets scratched I really don't care but I try my best to keep them in the best shape possible. I use rod socks and reel covers.
