Pod casts

So I spend a lot of my time in my garage.  Whether it’s working on my boat, guns, getting tackle ready,  making/repairing  tackle, making/repairing rods etc etc.  what are some good bass fishing podcasts to listen to while I’m working.  Currently I listen to mike Avery out door magazine which, is a 3 hour Michigan based radio broadcast/podcast about hunting, fishing, trapping and the out doors in Michigan.

I would be intrested in any thing bass fishing national or regional.  I don’t know if  the Michigan based guys like Mark Zona, kvd or any one else have one?

Stray Casts (Chicago based with frequent northern guests)

BTL (Bass Talk Live)

Ike Live

The Big Bass Podcast

Luke Duncan’s Traveling Circus (yes, bass fishing industry stuff)

Chris/Trait Zaldain

Mercer (Dave Mercer, BASS emcee)

Serious Angler Bass Fishing Podcast

Bass Edge Radio

Another Bass Fishing Podcast

…off the top of my head. I’m sure there are others.

I see a couple I hadn't noticed before.... anyone listen to One Objective or Tackle Talk?

Listened to just one episode of each.   Both worth revisiting.  Tackle Talk was a bit sales heavy, but the host is organized and informative and stays on topic.  One Objective had Jacob Wheeler, hoping to talk about his new Ikon boat, but Wheeler wouldn't say a word beyond generic development process because grand unveiling is still months away.  Some good fishing content, however.

I listen to bass talk live in the way up north ice fishing today.  I really liked it.  I’ll check out the other suggestions

Cut and Retie is my current favorite fishing podcast, really engaging and funny, but not really bass based, just general fishing, a bit Jersey centric but it’s pretty new and I’m betting that will expand. I also listen to Cast and Crank, pretty bass heavy but is west coast centered and includes saltwater bass fishing and occasionally so cal offshore fishing. Definitely seems like there is an opportunity for a bunch of really good ones that really hasn’t been tapped.

I’m pretty addicted to BTL.  Pretty much listen to that everyday it’s on.

Started tackle talk.  Seems alright the jimmy Houston episode was good .  I have a lot of respect for Houston now after listening to that episode

They should broadcast from a Harbor Freight or Grainger's...

Its very possible that they already are. All I know is they drink a ton of beer and eat pork roll.

I listen to BTL, Tackle Talk, Mercer, Bassmaster radio, MLF Podcast, Bass Chaplin, and being a Minnesota guy, I like Teal’s Bass Galaxy.  He has Midwest bass guys on.  It is a long podcast, but I listen over many days.  It is hard to find enough Midwest related fishing stuff, so I like that.  I watch Hellabass on YouTube, but he has a podcast too.  It is a replay of his YouTube.   He is Midwest as well, but really tied into the bass scene everywhere.  He writes an article for B.A.S.S. on Fantasy stuff as well.  There are a lot of good ones out there.

What app are you using?

I am disappointed that Google Podcast is going away.  I have test driven YouTube Music for a couple weeks and it is bad...at least for me.  I have used Amazon Music, Pocket Cast, Podbean, and some I have forgotten, but have not tried any that cost $$.

Maybe I was just used to it, but Google Podcast did everything I needed and did it well.  YT does those same things poorly.   I don't care about importing anything, just an easy, clean interface that runs well in background and remembers where I pause and what I've completed.   Clean front end would be nice, too.  One thing from Google that I will really miss, if I can't get it in new app is the android ability to pull down home screen and pause, FF, or Rewind.  Very helpful when driving.   Most podcast apps don't do that from the background.

@Fishin Dad I live in MN as well and had not heard of Teal's Bass Gallaxy - I will give it a listen - thanks for the heads up

@Mbirdsley I have mostly listened to BTL, Bass After Dark (I think it is on Thursday nights) as well as Garage Logic and Jocko Podcast (both non-fishing)

Looks like you live in the Alexandria region possibly.  I love that area and may retire there.  Teal lives north of the cities and talks northern Bassin too.  He fishes the Champions Tour and other tourneys.   He is a good mix of fishing tips, strategy, tourneys, and personalities.  Some of his podcasts are like 3 hours.  Hope you like it.

I've got a 40 minute commute each way to and from work so lately I have been filling that time listening to podcasts.

I tried listening to Iaconelli, but his Andy Rooney-like cadence drives me nuts after just a few minutes.

I will have to check out BTL sometime. I do like listening to Mike Rowe, Coach Beede, and Talkin' Yanks. There's a local podcast I also started listening to because they asked me to be on it.
