I got these at Walmart last month. I’ve never seen this before.

 

Is this the way Zoom is making all their Super Flukes now, or is this some made special for Walmart? I know some manufacturers have special (cheaper) production lines for Walmart.

 

At first I thought maybe this pack missed a finishing process, like they weren’t trimmed or something, but trimming wouldn’t remove that band going across the fluke. It looks like clear tape, but it's part of the fluke.

I have never seen these before.  Are they all like that? (the other package)

Probably just a bad mold shot that slipped through QC.  Happens

like said above, it looks like mold flashing.  When an injection mold isn't secured fully or if the injection pressure is higher than the mold compression pressure you'll get the halves of the mold to separate a little and plastic to creep into the gap.  In this case, it looks like they are screw threads or some other way to swap the tails in the mold.  I bet the body of that superfluke matches up to a paddle tail fluke and Zoom just swaps out the back of the mold to change designs in production.

Those little ribs will displace more water, creating vibration and causing the bass to blast them! Your catch rate will go up 39%!

I only bought one pack, but all of them are like this to some degree. It’s funny because I looked through a few packs to try to find the ones that were the least bent. I didn’t even notice the mold problem until I got home and opened the pack.

 

I’ll probably just keep them. My main concern was whether this was some change at Zoom.

I sent Zoom an email Sunday asking if they’d replace the defective pack of flukes. Today I find this on my porch. It’s been like 10 years since the last time I had a quality issue with Zoom, and they handled it the same way then. Class act. Just one of the reasons they’re my favorite for soft plastics.

Wow. That is really awesome.

 

I remember a while ago when people were wondering if zoom was about to go out of business… NOPE. 

If fishing lures are like stamps, then those defective flukes would be worth a bunch of money. I'd say hold on to them just in case.

Zoom is one of the best companies out there. Other companies could learn something by following the way they do business. I didn't get paid to say that !!!!! Class act all the way.
