Hard Jerkbaits : Bait Cast or Spinning Set Up ?

Featured Replies

90mm and 70mm jerkbaits I like spinning, and there's no way I'm throwing a balsa minnow on baitcasting lol, like 110 size maybe a light baitcast rod.

Casting. I don’t like spinning gear and only use it when necessary

Whatever you're more accurate and efficient with.

I don't throw any light jerkbaits, nothing under 3/8 oz. All of mine are currently thrown on a 6'10 M/XF SLX A paired with an SLX MGL 71HG, straight 12lb mono. Any lighter and I would switch to spinning, but all of mine are 3/8 to 1/2oz.

Baitcaster. Better line slack control, allow a swift transition between twitching-jerking-slashing.

Spinning because Randy Blaukat said that 90% of guys are doing it wrong.

I enjoy spinning rods for this. I like the control and holding just the handle vs palming the whole reel with a caster. Enjoy the fight on a spinning set up too!

6'6"-6'8" medium spinning rod braid to leader. I prefer spinning equipment and like the smoother drag to help keep them pinned with the trebles.
