My go tos are Lagavulin 16, Glenmorangie 18 and just recently Glenlivet Carribean Cask. I'd probably die of anxiety if I had to choose one for the rest of my life between Lag16 and the Carribean cask...16 is a classic taste but the Carribean is just something special. 

I only drink fine tequila and my least favorite is Patron, overrated.

1800 far better for the money but Asombroso the very best.

Three great scotches there and if you could only drink those three for the rest of your life you wouldn't be hurting.  Balvenie does a caribbean cask also that is delicious.  It has just a bit of peat to it, maybe a little more than the glenlivet.  give it a try if you see it.

 

 

Thanks for the suggestion I'll have to try it. I love peat flavor/smell. And yes, I always have 2 bottles on hand of each "just in case", despite only have one glass every other week. 

The problem is buffalo trace and eagle rare were supposed to be $20-30 bottles. And for that price they are just fine for sipping neat. 
 

For the money, my favorite go to bourbons are Rare Breed and Knob Creek. Both have great flavor profiles and high proofs that offer versatility to drink straight, on ice, or on cocktails.

For a $30 a bottle average, Larceny on the low end and Elijah Craig on the high end
