Pennsylvania also had terrible flooding with something like 10 fatalities, I heard an awful tale about a family getting swept away in a car

We are in a flood advisory this morning, just heard on the radio we’ve had over 1000 lightning strikes in the last half hour

I'm guessing the majority of the country wouldn't mind seeing some minor flooding given what's about to happen in the next 7-10 days.  I'll be bunkered down in my basement with the AC blasting to ride this out.

Eh, I’d take a drought but I’ve never seen one. Maybe it would get rid of some mold haha. I’d rather be hot and dry than hot and wet, jungle rot is real

I've literally never seen a flood in 31 years living here.  Our infrastructure can handle a lot of rain (and snow melt) in a short period of time though.  Plenty of drought, especially the last few years.

We've largely been able to avoid the sweltering heat that the south has had this summer.  That will be changing next week, unfortunately.  #heatdome

It’s AL NINO. He’s the one causing all the trouble , least that’s what the news says.

The sun cycle is another important variable:

The sun is currently in the fourth year of its current solar cycle, which began in December 2019, when the surface of the star had its lowest sunspot number, known as the solar minimum, of around 1.8. The solar cycle describes the changes the star's magnetic field undergoes over an 11-year period, and scientists track it by recording sunspot activity.

Thus far, solar cycle 25 has been more active than the relatively quiet solar cycle 24. Since December 2019, solar activity, including the number of sunspots and solar flares, has increased. The sun is heading to the next solar maximum, in 2024, when the star's polarity will reverse and many more active regions will appear.

Mayfield, KY, which was hit by the tornado 2 years ago, had the worst flooding with nearly a foot of rain in 24 hours

How much rain did you get there?

This was at the airport, I’m not exactly sure how to calculate but I’m thinking that’s about 1.7 inches yesterday

Very hot and dry in my area. We've had little rain since April, which is extremely unusual.

I'm liking it though.

@TnRiver46 Stay indoors and safe!
