New to us--exploding glass on a stove.

Featured Replies

Making breakfast this AM.  BOOM!!! front of the stove blew out. Glass all over the kitchen. Stove is just out of warranty, but we have a extended warranty. So far I can't get on the site to file a claim. What a fun day😒

that's wild!!

happy for you it's tempered glass.  but sorry for the troubles.

well, sounds like its not very old, the quality of the parts they use today are cheap, cheap glass, cheap switches........Its made to not last its called Planned Obsolescence. No quality in manufacturing so we get good looking junk so the manufactor gets more $$$ for the shareholder.

Thankfully no one and no pets were standing there when it happened....

Because of EPA regulations, refrigerator manufacturers are moving towards flammable refrigerants. Google "refrigerator explosion", it's more common than not

You're gonna need the heat resistant duct tape to fix that before baking anything. Try Ace Hardware.

@jbmaine was the oven on? Did the oven door get closed kinda hard? Or did it just blow out?
That’s crazy.

No the oven was NOT on. The door had NOT been opened or closed. Wife was cooking eggs on the front burner. Stove is only a year and a half old. Scared the 💩 out of us and the cats. We picked up glass ten feet away. We have a extended warranty that covers anything mechanical or electrical on the stove for five years. Waiting to hear if exploding glass is covered.

I have a double oven and have broken the inner glass on both.  One from an exploding pizza stone the other just heat cycling

Dang. Sorry to hear that. I have a very similar stove.

@slonezp: interesting that you mentioned that. Just yesterday I had to investigate the ice machine (modern) because it was making ice and there’s a note in the ice bin that said something to this effect: Caution - After installation, let refrigerant settle for 2 hours before operating to prevent an explosion “
