Pulled out my tubs of plastics, and inspected some baits.  Kinked baits in nearly every bag.  I'm wanting to iron them out (maybe literally) and put them in 3700's for long storage.  Mainly just baits that are prone to this happening, such as ribbon tails, creature baits, etc.  I've read about dudes boiling them, but I thought I coulld lay them out and iron them (low heat with parchment paper cover).  Thoughts?

I would do the hot water then lay them out on a towel to cool and dry.  I cannot in-vision any thing good with an iron and plastisol. 

I’ve had success with the boiling water trick. I just use a pair of tongs to dunk the bait, keep the kinked part submerged for a couple seconds at a time, and repeat until it’s straight. Works really well. 

I'll second and third the idea of putting these baits in hot( almost boiling ) water, then lay them out on a paper towel.                                                  It softens them up, and, they'll come out straight as an arrow.

I'll vouch for the boiling water trick too. Done it a few times with some small paddle tails that had kinked tails and worked great. 

If its a slight bend not a bad kink you can warm up the entire bag next to heater or fire place.  Once theyre warm you lay them out flat, or as you want them to set and take them outside (if its cold) or put them in the fridge.  The colder it is the better they set.

If its a bad kink, really hard crease or you have a ton of them to straighten, then I think youre better off just using hot water to heat them up.

I prefer wagging them in the hot water, seems to reset them quicker.  Good luck.

Matt Stephan has a video on this and he uses a hair dryer.  I've tried it on some of mine and it works too. Never tried the hot water trick but as others have said, I'm sure it works as well.

I don't use them but a friend does.  He also uses the hot water, but once straight and cool, he lays them flat and rolls each one in a piece of paper to keep them straight then puts a number of them into a plastic ziplock bag.  He claims they never kink this way....??

Don't use your wife's favorite pot to boil them in. And you want some ventilation when boiling them. I used a portable outdoor gas grill once, and it worked well. It might take a few minutes in the hot water, but it does work.
