Strike king rage menace Chatterbait trailer

Featured Replies

My Original Chatterbaits get the same stuff as my Jackhammer's or Elite Evo's, 3.8, 4 and 5" is usually my go to sizes for trailers, the normal size Rage Menace (3.5") would work, but you would probably have to trim the skirt on the Chatterbait just a bit.

The 4" Magnum Rage Menace would probably be the ideal size.

The Baby Rage Menace (3") is way to small for anything other than a Mini Max, which is an excellent trailer for that one.

I use the normal size ones. I think they are 3.5 inch?

4 inch rigged vertically.

Ditto. But I, too, have switched to the spunk shad.

Me as well, but the OP asked about the Menace, which was what I used before the Spunk Shad.

Two years ago was fishing my home lake just after sunup...guy motors over and asks for help...he did the magnum-opus hookset, and fired a crankbait back at himself...turned around and took it in the shoulder. He couldn't get it out...bad angle...I managed to pull it free.

As a thank-you, he handed me several lures, including a home-made chatter bait with a spunk shad trailer. I've caught many fish on that lure...and ordered me up some spunk shads : )

I like them very much.

Mostly Spunk Shad on chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, but I usually use Zakos on Jackhammers.

One thing I've found is that the baby menace tails do not reliable wiggle like the regular one does.  The regular menace is very good just slow steady reeling on a light jig, like a ned jig, to allow slow retrieve without sinking too much.

Original and Magnum, rigged on it's side so the tail swims like a fish.

All you vertical guys should give it a horizontal try.  Comes through brush and laydowns like a champ, cruises effortlessly across top of grass, hops on bottom like a jig, and gets bit every bit as much as vertical.
