Bait fuel

Featured Replies

Have any of you used it? Would you recommend? Would the BANG spray can be a better option?

With Bait Fuel they seem to hold on a bit longer. But not like MegaStrike.

I was going to get some megastrike but they have been sold out of the original and crawfish for a long time on tackle warehouse. Would the garlic megastrike also be good?

I saw they had some on discount tackle but it didn’t say what “flavor”  it is

I have only used crawfish & original.

There is a whole great podcast on this subject on Bass after Dark, my takeaway is that oil based scents really only work as masking agents because apparently scents have to be water soluble for the fish's olfactory system to actually pick them up in water.

That said, I'm a religious user of Bang Garlic on my soft plastic.    I use heavy bug spray especially during the nights of summer months.   Certainly hasn't hurt my game, and at least in my mind has made a major difference since I started using it.

For me when bait fuel shines is when they bite and then drop the bait, OR you know fish are there and they wont bite.  I have used it several times in the situations above and it works.  Another trick that worked for me this year was bedding fish, if they wouldn't bite, I put on bait fuel and got em using the same bait that they didn't bite the first few times..

Discount Tackle has the “Original” in stock at $8.99. Another option for me is Pro Cure which is made with real bait for both fresh and saltwater.

There are a couple that I use. Long time user. But does it help……I don’t know. Does it hurt…..I say no. I have myself convinced that smallies do like garlic on some days. Some of my soft plastics I will not put it on. They work better with whatever factory is doing to them.

I pre-spray every bag of plastics with baitmate or the like only because I think it works........ only because I think it works.
