Getting back into Bass Fishing

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I grew up bass fishing. Was super fortunate to grow up with a 3 acre bass pond in Connecticut pretty much all to myself and couple of others that I had canoes staged in. In my twenties I got hard core into fly fishing for trout, which is still an obsession but this summer the bass bug bit again hard because where I am in Missouri I am 3 hours from what I consider acceptable trout fishing.  I'm actually at the point where it probably makes some sense to invest in a decent kayak for next season.

I mainly use gear for bass fishing in lakes and ponds and I prefer it to fly fishing because I grew up with a quiver of baitcasting setups.  I still like to get back to CT and catch boatloads of smallies on the Housatonic River. But right now I am trying to learn about all the stuff that is new to me on the gear side of things.

It's been really fun getting back into it and this place looks like a great resource and community.
