Was super fortunate to grow up with a 3 acre bass pond in Connecticut pretty much all to myself and couple of others that I had canoes staged in. In my twenties I got hard core into fly fishing for trout, which is still an obsession but this summer the bass bug bit again hard because where I am in Missouri I am 3 hours from what I consider acceptable trout fishing. I'm actually at the point where it probably makes some sense to invest in a decent kayak for next season. I mainly use gear for bass fishing in lakes and ponds and I prefer it to fly fishing because I grew up with a quiver of baitcasting setups. I still like to get back to CT and catch boatloads of smallies on the Housatonic River. But right now I am trying to learn about all the stuff that is new to me on the gear side of things.
