I love how you reach down and turn on the camera mid retrieve 😆

LOL ~

That's an innate skill.

You can not teach that !

How convenient this thread is.  I just snagged a couple of discontinued Terminators last week on ebay and they arrived today. After shipping they came out to $17/each.

Nice hardware - be sure to double up on good leader material to ward off the toothy Scud Rockets!

You can bet I'll at least try tossing them in a week during a derby.  Maybe I should take out an insurance policy on them?

No input on brands since I’ve been making my own.  About 90% of the time I’m throwing a 1/2oz and if I do downsize it’s often to a single blade 1/4oz, no trailer, thrown off a spinning rod.  The most important part of a spinnerbait is the swivel; ball bearing swivels are a requirement.  Also, big blades get big bites 👌.

For trailers I’m currently running Spunk shads or BBB kamikaze swimon.  Fluke style trailers are a favorite for me as the spinnerbait itself will impart far more natural looking action on the trailer if the trailer isn’t trying to work against it.

My biggest tips are:

Work a spinnerbait in “loud” conditions.  Windy, cloudy, dirty are all things to look for and you only need one to make a spinnerbait connect.  I’ve caught plenty of good bass on bluebird sky’s and slick water so long as it’s dirty.

Stay high in the water column.  My preference is to see the bait during the entirety of my retrieve. There are times to fish deep and it can be very successful but the vast majority of the time I’m more successful calling those fish up to my bait.

Work cover intimately.  My personal best is on a spinnerbait that I threw along the inside edge of a patch of thick lily's.  I did this while on the other side of the lily's knowing that at best I’d get half of the retrieve before getting caught in the lilys and if I did hook a fish (and I did) that I’d be destroying the spinnerbait by horsing the fish in a fast as a could because of the thick cover.  These are the kind of battle plans and tactics that make a spinnerbait successful all year long instead of just burning flats in springtime.

I can't say I have a favorite brand, but Zorro is up there.  My tip- buy a Zorro short arm w/ the single colorado blade and throw it where you would normally throw a squarebill. They have a wire weedguard and can make it through the sticks.

Siebert Outdoors 1/2 oz compact tandem, green shad. No trailer most of the time. I like to either wind it a foot or two below the surface, or count it down and use a stop and go retrieve. Probably my best bait for big spots.

Need to add the big spinnerbait on the bottom to my tackle box.

War eagle 5/16oz finesse spinnerbait and their 1/2-3/4oz models. No trailer. Fished in cover, near grass and weeds, over top rocks. Varying retrieve speeds throughout the cast, bumping into cover if I can, otherwise fast pops with the reel speed to flair the skirt. Spinnerbaits and senkos are my confidence lures.

I dont fish SBs as much as I should and Im sure there are tons of great ones out there, but Im partial to a couple.

I really like Picassos Invizwire and SS SBs.  They vibrate really well and theyre pretty strong.  Al the components are good quality.

Most recently Ive become really fond of the willow bladed Molix Muscle ant.  It had a lot of lift for a finesse spinnerbait, I suppose because of the wire and head design.  It feels like a colorado blade, but it doesnt have too much flash and the skirt is very thin.  I think its going to work really well in the spring on those tougher days.

For a full size SB in muddy water or rainy day I like a Zorro long arm aggravator.  They're simple, the components are pretty good and they produce some good fish for me.
