I don’t often get ‘surprised’ by much. However, this one certainly falls directly into that category. First, a brief backstory. For the past, I guess, couple of years anyway, I have been on the lookou

This past holiday weekend, the weather was really nice.

Almost too nice.

As a result, I could not bring myself to join the flotilla that traditionally fills most of the larger local waters. Choosing instead to get caught up on some much-needed projects around our home.

However, I am really chomping at the bit to get after some brown bass, so much so that it's actually negatively affecting my overall physical and mental health.

OK, I may have overplayed my hand a little right there, but I do need to wet a line & soon.

Sadly the forecast is not cooperating.

I'm uncertain if I can endure another week without getting some Pro-V Bass seat time.

Can someone help me—please?

:Please:

The updated Lake Menderchuck weather forecast makes tomorrow a fishing day.

Some traditional pre-fall, early September coolness has been blasting through here the past few days.

It's been quite dramatic too.

Lake might be a bit of a mess but I have to get out there to find out.

Generally do not fish weekends until after Labor Day.

At least I have that advantage going for me.

With the temps and winds we’ve been having if there are pleasure boaters out especially in your area, let them freeze!

Catch ‘em!

Tomorrow is a fishing day for me.

I am planning to switch gears and head to Lake Menderchuck this time.

So we'll see how that goes.

It should be a 'nice day' at least.

Been hitting a couple of different lakes on the regular.

Last trip I managed to bump into a few decent fish.

And while brown bass on light gear and a spybait is definitely a good time,

I'm still holding out for the plus-sized models.

This entire week is forecast to be super nice, with mostly summer-like weather conditions.

I'm ready to hit it hard the whole week but don't know what to expect.

I'll start out tomorrow morning at first light and see where that leads me.

First light this time of year up here is at 0600-ish, which is favorable.

Heading out now to spool up a couple of casting reels with fresh line

and tie on some fresh leaders.

On the road again.

Can already feel the hotness of the day starting to build.

Which is not a typical September thing in northern Michigan.

Might be a day, we'll soon find  out.

Fishing day for me tomorrow.

Hitting local Lake Menderchuck for a first light trip.

Expecting reduced visibility.

Love fishing in the early morning fog.

Just always feels like any cast could be something special.

Wouldn't hate a topwater bite either.

Rigging up now.

I love fishing in the fog, what I don't love is digging myself off of the sandbars that unexpectedly shifted from my last trip, while driving in the fog.

Nothing like that grinding noise on the hull as you stare at your GPS track that you are following perfectly and was 4 feet deep a week ago, now it is 4 inches.  Dang rivers

Good luck brother!!! I'm with ya. I'll be rolling a bucktail over shallow submerged weeds as dark gives way to the first light of dawn. #QUESTFOR100

Look on the bright side, sand is softer than a rock. All our sand washed away a couple million years ago

I have dumped a couple of very respectable smallies on my last two trips.

They both threw the hook with some amazing big air acrobatics. I don't have to like it, even though I know it happens. And I don't.

Well, those were sunset deals, and I'm sneaking up on them at first light this morning. Hoping I might be able to implement some sort of repayment. If I  do Both will be held captive for some time. Primarily to demonstrate what they were missing

This morning, there is a lot of fog.

I'll be on the lookout for Swamp Thing. The air is thick with moisture, and visibility is low, but I can make out the silhouettes of the trees lining the path ahead. As I move cautiously through the mist, I can't shake the feeling that I'm being watched, that the Swamp Thing is lurking just beyond my sight, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal itself.

Here We go . . .

With a very fisherman-friendly forecasts on tap for tomorrow,

preparations are being made for a day on the water.

We're switching it up a bit, though.

My beloved companion will be accompanying me in the boat once again after a considerable period.

We anticipate plenty of sunshine and an abundance of fun

as we chase a few fun-sized green bass around Lake Minichuck

in the Old Town Canoe.

I hope I get to be net man all day.

Tomorrow is a fishing day for me.

Wind speed and direction forecast indicates big water Lake Menderchuck could have potential. So that's where I'll be most of the day.  Last time I was there, I found a 'new' semi sneaky drop that was holding bait. We'll be fishing that deal to start hoping a few plus sized smallies are hanging around.  You wouldn't know it by judging this week's weather, but our average first snowfall is only a couple of weeks away. My up coming extra time on the water will reflect this.

Fish Hard

As I step out the door this morning it's an Ultra clear dark sky with stars on stars forever....

Going to be another warm sun drenched day on the water.

I've had more than my share.

Not complaining.

Probably do a lot of moving today, checking several spots looking for that one special fatty.

Here We GO!

And this is the face after having to replace an entire record collection with an 8 track collection,

and then turn that into a CD collection, which ended up transitioning to an MP3 collection

and now I need a subscription to listen to that same music.

Tonight's weather is turning seasonal, as indicated by the fall's first Frost Advisory. Workout and yard work on Wednesday. That means Thursday is a fishing day. Air temperatures and wind direction/speed point me toward a local Lake Menderchuck afternoon-to-sunset trip. I'm not sure what the surface water temperatures will be, but I'm not opposed to anything in the 50s. Can you say jerkbait bite ? I can.

Fingers crossed.

^ Ditto over here - frost alert tonight for my town anyway. And this past Saturday we got close to breaking the record high. And one night (forget which) we tied the record for the warmest overnight temp.

Tomorrow still looks like a fishing day for me.

However, I am planning to double-dip.

I'll be on local Lake Menderchuck at first light until about 10 am or so.

Then I'll come home, enjoy a grilled ribeye,

and go back @3 pm for the late afternoon to sunset bite.

This isn't my usual trip, but I believe it will be enjoyable.

Might even get my string pulled a few times.

Heading out into the crisp 30 degree north woods morning.  Not sure what to expect.

Should be calm, clear and hopefully warming up fast.  Could use a few brown bass today.

Seems appropriate.
