From Central NC

Featured Replies

Hello from central NC . I have been fishing for about 45 years now. Grew up catching river smallies, trout, walleye, perch, carp, salmon, (well if it had fins i was interested)and pike in Western NY . Been here in central NC for 30 years now. Most of the species such as Musky are rare here so it's been LMB, cats and Crappies for the most part.

I see there are others here from NC, maybe someone can teach me to fish Lake Mackintosh my nemesis!

Howdy there!  Great group of people with loads of knowledge.

I can tell you this much - bass are bass despite what the bait monkey would have you believe.  🙂😉

Read lots and take notes - everyone on here can teach you something.

Welcome from ... Lake Mackintosh :)

Step 1- something I never thought I'd have to say, wait for soft water!

There are good fish in that lake, but they certainly aren't easy to catch and the skunk gets me pretty regularly.

I agree with what Pat said. Tons of knowledge on here, don't be afraid to ask questions and please participate in the forums!

Which Marina do you launch from? Do you have a boat or rent one? I primarily kayak from Guilford marina but occasionally will rent a Jon boat and take my kids or friends out on it.

Welcome! I'm also a NY transplant but from "central" NY...depends on where you live in NY depends on what you call me haha (hudson valley).

Living out in Eastern NC, you have a decent group of members out your way for sure.

I'd normally say welcome from Raleigh, NC, though I'm out on the Northern Outer Banks for the rest of the year.

Awesome to see another North Carolinian! There's a few of us active on here.

I have a Jon boat that I converted to look and function like a (slow) bass boat, complete with foot mounted trolling motor. I fish out of the Alamance side therefore. I have fish the quarry and non-motorized out of a kayak however. Needles to say not very successfully, just cannot figure out that lake and have spent a great deal of time fishing it. Could not figure out when they even spawned last year. I find the fish all off shore always suspended. At any rate, I am determined to learn more about fishing it with some success.

@Mdd71 send you a private message with more details on Mackintosh, etc. :)
