Looks like your state record brown bass is a bit of a mystery.

What is this 'Uncertified' deal all about ?

Oh it's definitely sketchy.  I don't think anyone would deny that.

They reclassified everything pre 1980 as a "historical state record" but since there isn't anything certified and submitted since the reclassification, the 8 pounder apparently still stands.

Nothing before 1980 required a witness, certified weight, or even a photo!  🤔

Since I already insulted A-Jay I’m finally on the board. My biggest today I dropped half way back to the boat. My second biggest went 5-14. Thats 5.875 divided by PA record 8.5 equals.69.11 x 100 for

Well it took me five days but I’m back on the board with an upgrade. 7lbs-6oz. That’s 7.375 divided by 9.0 times 100 equals 81.94 percent. I was fishing in New York waters Lake Ontario and the NY smal

I hear ya ~

You can only go with what you've got.

But if I were you and I got a fatty close to or over 8,

I would certainly complete the updated application process

and claim that spot with a modern day and actually accurate record.

Then you could finally put that * asterisk behind you . . .

btw- ensure your lic is up to date.

Pulling this one up out of the weeds ~

Nothing since May ?

I have to admit I'm a little surprised.

Especially with So many Hammers on this forum.

Of course I'm just an innocent by-stander until August I guess.

Either way, Good Luck to one & all.

I gave up.  Ain't no way I am beating my score already.  2nd place is first loser I guess.

Pat went and set the bar so d**n high!

I been trying hard - it's been a couple close calls but no dice since May.  Got plans to fish tomorrow with @LrgmouthShad and @FishTax at a couple choice spots so anything is possible 👍🏼😎

The Thunder Moon could go off with a great big BOOM!

Crap. Actually third place.  I missed @gim's entry.  But we are all within 2 of each other :hammerblows:

I take some solace knowing that I have the best scoring brown bass.

Its going to take a behemoth smallmouth to beat my current entry.

No Doubt.

I'll need to come close to or actually totally besting my current PB

to even stand a chance.

I think you're safe, at least from me anyway.

Whose idea was this again   ?

@A-Jay Ive got a question for ya. What happens if a new state record is caught after someone has entered a fish for that state? Will their score stay the same or will they have to change it include the new state record? Chances are very low but it got me thinking…

Great question and a scenario I didn't think of. 🤔  I will say that in an effort to keep everybody happy now, and to keep this fun  I will address that deal if and when it happens. So for now, it's still full steam ahead and don't give up the ship !

Not sure what any of that even means but sure was fun to type.

Good Luck breaking that state record.

Not really. I'm not done yet but you still have the advantage because I'll be fishing the St Lawrence in New York waters instead of PA. Heck I might even be throwing a popper. wink, wink😀

I imagine the state record in NY is more sizable than in PA?

That is what might keep me in the lead here.  The MN state record is only 8.0 pounds.  And its a sketchy 8 pounds too!

Yep the PA record is only 8.5 & the NY new record is 9-0 replacing the old record of 8-6.

Spotted bass are allowed.  VA does not recognize the Alabama due to them being an unwanted invasive.  We have both, IDK if the Tennessee has a citation here.  I guess I am gonna learn today!

Pretty slim pickings here.

Honestly thought there would be regular posts in this thread through out the season.  Apparently not.

Perhaps the bar was set too high from the get go.

I was going to mention this same thing yesterday.  Early season is typically big fish city but some of the better green bass often show up in summer.

Either way, I'll be ramping up my own efforts to improve my standing here this week.

You never know . . . . .

Going to sound like a fish story....but I hooked a good bass pushing over 6 this past week. When I lifted him up to show my daughter right before I put him on the scale he flopped and slipped out of my hand and over the side of the boat he went.

I unfortunately didn't even get picture but have a dozen witnesses.

It was on a frog at 7pm @Pat Brown

Well it’s October so the brown bass will be on the move.

They were not on Saturday and Sunday.   Bunch of us went out.  If you casted in the direction of a smallie they ran like a deer that was shot at
