Here we go, takeoff in 30 minutes. Surely we will see some

big ones brought in, loved seeing Kennedy frog fishing last time they stopped here. For the Scott Martin fans, he will be on the halftime show today discussing his DQ

  • I get that, but I think it’s not fair for the angler that’s way ahead of everyone, to start even again. It’s a matter of opinion. I find both entertaining.

Yeah I prefer it this way. Resetting just nullifies the work for the three previous days.

This one I will pay a little attention too.
I have 2 100+ boat tournaments coming up.

Considering the conditions we have, I won’t pay much attention if at all to what they’ll use, more interested in how and where.

Interviews before takeoff sounded like there is a lot of empty beautiful water and the boats are all grouped up. Some said water was dirty and vegetation was lacking

this is always funny to me, if you want to see lacking vegetation come to where I live, it’s almost total zero

Yeah

They had a spraying party not long ago but trust me, there is plenty of clear water in pockets in a few areas and fields of submerged ell grass.

But the challenge is gonna be not spending too much time riding around on the hunt, which is hard to do there.
Pull up on an area they are moving in and out of and have the big stick loaded.
Bed and Carolina rigging should be hot.

But it’s “The Lake” it’ll change on you before you’re ready, but these guys know that.

It’s the 10th biggest lake in America but there will be boats crowded in 4 or so community holes.

I guess the lack of vegetation is due to high water?

Matty Wong wasting no time proving you right. 7.5 for his first fish of the day is an ok way to start lol. Guess he didn’t miss the invite for this one

When Trey finds them he is hard to beat man. Hopefully he doesn’t beat himself in this one

I hope he is throwing swimbaits.

McKinney is leading. Gross.

I think it’s due to herbicide treatments

Everything I have read is that the historically high water inhibits vegetation growth because the the light can’t penetrate as well, but who knows.

In other areas may be but not so much on The Lake.
It’s a shallow bowl.
You have to consider where you’re at on the lake and conditions at the time you’re there to consider anything “high water”

The biggest problem is that it opens areas for Mama to hide that are inaccessible to boats. Not because of poor growth of vegetation because of poor light

Okeechobee traditionally fishes small.  Always has.

Always will

That’s why the old saying

”Never leave fish to find fish”

Is kinda the unspoken rule over here if you fish it long enough

Yes that's true in general but vegetation will grow much deeper than Lake O's bottom depth. The reason for the lack of vegetation is because they have been spraying the hell out of it.

Why are they doing that?

Because weeds are unsightly, the homeowners don’t like it, and it hinders the wake boaters. 😁

Idk who are worse wake boats or jet skies. Rarely do I ever have a positive experience around either be it at the ramp or on the water.

1:45 on day one and the cut line is 4-15. This is unreal!

I'm hoping basstrakk has some surprises.

Has to be a reception issue or something, right? Aint no way John Cox has 0 fish at 3pm in a Florida Derby. Or the Johnston bros for that matter.

None of them have a marshal with them. Looks like they only had enough marshals for about half the field today.
